Brunswick Monster Black/Red Bowling Ball

(16 reviews) Write a Review

The Black/Red Reactive Monster extends the range of Reactive reactions in the mid-price category by adding a medium flare alternative to the Green/Black Reactive Monster. For the Black/Red Reactive Monster, the original Monster core has been modified to create a lower differential and track flare potential than the Green/Black Reactive Monster. This change results in more length and a smoother backend reaction; making the Red/Black Monster a better match for stronger release players and/or drier lane conditions. The combination of the Reactive Monsters for moderately oily lanes, and the ProActive Monsters for heavier oiled lanes, gives a huge range of ball reactions that delivers frightening performance. Performance that will make other mid-price ball sets tremble in fear.

Brunswick's Monster Red/Black Pearl , when compared to Monster Green Pearl, this ball goes slower/ milder snap-arc. But it also impacts well! Good carry when shined up nicely with energy stored up. Hits like a truck. But somehow i prefer the Green Pearl. But when Monster Green Pearl snaps get unpredictable, this ball is the ball to come out of the bag! It will be more controllable with the same impact more or less! Brunswick Red/Black is a versatile ball as well and works well on most lanes! juz without the hard snap, it does not matches the "showmanship" Of the Moster Green Pearl! Get a Monster Proactive Purple when needed more hook on oilier lanes!

Remarkably good carry on poor hits. Much easier ball to throw than current skid - snap reaction balls which have an uh - wow factor but give really odd leaves on dryer backends. Easy to read arc on drier conditions. If you only have one ball in your bag for the 2nd shift at your house, this should be it. One of the best balls for dry lanes ever made. I haven't seen this ball offered for awhile but some may still be available on e-bay. XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX XXX

I have this one set up with the ring out, Way out from the ring finger with axis type weight but not actual axis weight. This ball is drilled for early revs with a fair amount of backend. I have a PBA Regional this weekend and wanted a low flaring ball that would go thru the heads but allow me to play a tighter line to the pocket without going thru the beak. the line im going to play is the 2o board with my feet and throw the ball over the 18 board at the arrows. This ball will rev up but you have to make quality shots you just cant drop it and watch it go because this being a pearl ball and throwing it on oil you need to be a bit more careful with it. The regular house shot has 10 units of oil per board. The sporty shot im on in my qualifying today averages 47 1/2 units per board. I really like this ball for a sport condition as long as the backends give you a little. Not as conditional as a lot of the balls out there but I think a keeper, Thumbs Up, So to speak. Hope this helps, Tak

Very solid ball for bein brunswick. I dislike brunswick equipment for the most part. I leave way too many corner pins. The reaction is too late for me no matter how i drill it. This ball was different. I throw this ball very good. I shot 1384 for 6 games with it at my last tournament. I was very pleased with the ball. I like the ball for dry to medium oil is the most consistent reaction for it. The best carry for a brunswick is with this ball. They need to bring this and the green monster pearl back. They should have never discontiued them. <s

Sorry for a little bit for the frenche because i don't know how to explain abouth the finger was not made on my hand. But don't wurry about that because i'm gonna repere that to make this better. O.k Talking about the monster, he' hit really hard and then on the medium oil, sometimes he hit to much then i play with this ball on heavy oil and he hit greats but its depending on your shot. This ball is greats. But mayby i'm going to said medium to heavy oil but i prefer to said medium oil because then i'm going to changing my fingers place i don't know whats is going to happened. Suggestion by this ball.

The Red/Black monster is an excellent ball to be in any cranker/tweeners bag. Although its not the ideal ball for every condition, it can be used effectively most of the time. Anyone that has trouble with over reaction should look into this ball. You can't beat the prices on the Monster line of bowling balls, and the Red/Black is one of the best they offer. (again, for crankers) It'll work well as a go to ball for the 2nd shift for almost everybody, but if you rev it up, you can't lose with it. If you want a huge hooking ball, this isn't it, but if you're looking to play tighter.... you can't beat it....

Well this is one of those balls that you just have to say, "well, I'm not gonna find another Saphire Zone, or a Parker MVP, so I guess this is the closest thing to that ball." Well, that is true! What people don't know, is that the coverstock of a ball is responsible for 60%-75% of a balls reaction. The PowrKoil 17 coverstock is one of the most versatile coverstocks ever made! you can sand it, polish it, even put some Turtle Wax on the damn thing, and it will be perfect for that sport shot, or that 20 game marathon tournament you are bowling in. Bottom line is: This is the closest thing you will find to the Saphire Zone, or the Parker. thanks for reading, Brian

I like the ball when i play on synthetic lanes because it has a even reaction on the backend, and it is very controllable. On my house shot they oil heavy, so I have to throw my ball a bit harder and play in around 12 to 15. It still packs a nice whallop for a light oil ball. If you play consistently around a certain board or line, then you should have no trouble with this ball, otherwise keep it in the bag until the lanes are burnt. It works better on either the first game of league or the last game . if you use it on the first game put it up until the last game, becasue you'll have problems bigger than Mt. Everest.

Since i was awrded this ball thorugh a league i am satisfied with it because it cost me little money. Although, it owuld still be worth purchase i would not use this bal for any kind of oiled conditions because it just doesn't hook for me. I could sand it but why not just purchase a better ball. If you can get this ball at a discout price or bowl on dry conditions it would be a smart purchase otherwise this ball does noteserve the name monster. I enjoy throwing this ball for spares on oiled conditions, that is how well it hooks!

I really like this ball, it uped my ave 15-20 pins i went from a 160-165 bowler using a $70 dollar Urethane ball to using this ball getting it up there to 180 i thnik it's still going up. I'm going to be a freshman this year and i think people are going to be surprised. and you can use the ball for any shot im a lefty i can make 7 pins with this. This ball is definetly a plus to any ones ball bag whether you use it or not cause there will always be a time when you take the Monster out of the bag.

this ball is a very even rolling ball. nothing to flashy. the reaction of the ball is not even close to a "monster". however , the ball is a solid ball. it has a smooth roll with an even and predectable reaction. the ball hits very good. this ball is good for medium to medium dry oil. does not do anything in oil. this ball will not hurt your score, but it probably wont help unless just the right condition. i still keep it in the bag it's good when the lanes are squirly because you wont get an over under reaction.

This ball is a wonderful balls for evening blocks and light patterns. It is a weak coverstock and low dynamic weight block., so many lower rev rate/high ball speed players may not have a need for it. Anyone who has high rev rate/slower ball speed will enjoy the way thses balls roll. Mine started with 3-4" pin out and 3oz top. had it drilled with the pin 5 1/2" from PAP and cg 4" from PAP with a hole at 7" over and 1" down. WHAT A NICE BALL, ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE. MINE WAS LABELED WITH THE PIN IN BETWEEN THE ABOVE AND FINGERS. EASY THROUGH THE HEADS AND A GOOD SNAP IN THE BACK. WHICH IS WHY I BOUGHT THIS ONE. IT WAS JUST A LITTLE MEANER THAN I WANTED BUT IT WAS TRULY A GREAT BALL. MAYBE I SHOULD TRY ONE AXIS LEVERAGED. HMMM. AND THIS THING HIT LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN. OF COURSE THAT DRILL WILL SAVE ALOT OF ENERGY FOR THE PINS BUT STILL IT WAS A DANDY. WOULDNT MIND GETTING ANOTHER BUT IM STICKING TO THE LANE #1 STUFF FOR RIGHT NOW.

This ball is a blower. This ball is like a beginners ball I got this ball when I rejoined bowling season 2001-2002. It works time from time but most times keep it in the bag. If not dry lanes only most times unpredictable ball reactions fingers are required for this ball.Slow ball speed is the key along with hands. This ball needs extra help more like strong drillings I threw it up along the fourteenth board it barly came through and thats a close line. But this ball is slightly recommend because of some lane conditions its able to play and does good jobs on on them.wood lanes not recommend

I have this ball drilled with the 1L layout for maximum hook. Boy does it show. I shoot from the 5 board through the 3 arrow and it always hooks back nicely. This ball always seems to hook back no matter how off course it is. The carry is amazing, I throw a ball under 10mp/h and it still has absolutely no deflection what-so-ever. As an overall beginner to this sport I'd say I couldn't have asked for a better starting ball. I keep a dull finish like the one this ball comes with out of the box and it serves me quite well. Learn to control it and you've got one heck of a ball on you're hands. Though crankers who prefer a super huge hook won't get it from this ball.
