900 Global XPonent Bowling Ball

Hey everyone, I'm back with another ball review, and this time it's for the 900 Global Xponent! In 15 pounds this ball is wrapped in the Batch 701 Solid Coverstock and comes with 4000 abaron and an RG of 2.48, Diff of .042. Now that I have thrown this ball I have found it as another stronger ball to go along with balls like the Storm Summit and as I have said in other reviews being more speed than rev dominant I have found this ball to look best going straight down the track. The Xponent is not as rolly as my Summit so I did have to start moving left as I threw it. I have thrown it against the 900 Global Zen Gold Label as well and had to move right as the Zen GL is a shiny pearl with React Gloss. I see this ball being great on the fresh and after some lane shine can be a little slow so I plan to keep the surface up on this one where I will let the Summit stay lane shined. The Xponent is a new ball to our line and I was very impressed when I saw the shape it made. The Xponent features the 801 Reserve Solid Coverstock with the Shrapnel 2.0 core which was featured in the Ordinance C4. It’s a very smooth and predictable piece that I have found to like. Holy moly this ball is amazing! Comparing to other symmetrical solids, this ball is below the Phaze 2, barely and is above the IQ Tour. For me the Phaze 2 is great, but there are times I do want something between it and the IQ Tour. The Xponent solves that problem! It’s the perfect blend of the Phaze 2 and the IQ Tour. Honestly it might replace the Phaze 2 for me in my house shot bag because it’s a little more versatile than the Phaze 2 when the volume is lower. The more I move left with the Xponent, and slow my speed, the more it wants to come around the corner! For being a mid diff solid this ball is incredible

900 Global XPonent Layout 5 x 4 x 2.5 Style – stroker Ball Speed – 14–15 mph at pins Condition – house pattern - older HPL surface Surface – box condition I’ve drilled so many solid/symmetrical balls over the years it’s staggering. However, I’ve not had a tremendous amount of success lately with any that I’ve drilled up. Whether it’s layout, covers being too aggressive for my speed and or lane surface I keep finding my way back to the IQ Tour Solid. It looks like it’s a success on all 3 tours already. Barnes, Simonsen and Diana Z have all won tournaments using it. And I’ve seen multiple other competitors use it in qualification. The ball arrives and looks chalky, which had me concerned. Worry not, this is what I’ve been looking for. For me, I’d say that it’s about 4-5 stronger than a Tour Solid. Both balls have 5-inch pins, but the Tour Solid has a longer pin buffer (4 inches). Was able to roll it, play the track, move right and back my hand out of it all with success. When I can do that many things with a ball, I’d expect it will appeal to a wide variety of bowlers. If you’re looking to add a new benchmark type reaction to your bag, I don’t think you’ll go wrong with this one. I’m pleased to say this one is a home run from Global.

Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed at release 17 Review: This new Xponent is so much better than I could of hoped for. This ball is definitely an upgrade on the C4 which I did like to roll. I could not believe the nice roll and hit this new Global Xponent has given me. This ball is part of a group of medium type new releases in the Storm Family but this may surprisingly be my favorite. I love the roll, motion and hit this ball gives me. The Exponent is forgiving and when you trust a ball it seems you loosen up and bowl better with it. The Xponent would be a nice benchmark solid to build an arsenal around. I have tried this ball on a few different conditions now and it has read them all well with great performance. I seem to be able to see how this balls core migrates as it goes down the lane. Though this is a wide range, I would put the Xponent directly between the Hustle RIP and Gem in total hook and shape. I have been looking for that benchmark control ball in my bag from 900 Global for some time dating all the way back to the release of either the original Ordnance or Ordnance C4. I had for some time carried an IQ Tour, but with my rev rate (425+) the IQ tour at times was a little too sharp. This is where the Exponent has come into play. Laying it out 40 x 3.75 x 50, this has given me Ultimate control through the fronts and off the end of the pattern. Allowing me to see the pattern front to back instead of left to right, it has allowed me to still be able to hit the ball how I wish but know it isn't going to duck hook on me. Having for some time struggled on Medium and Flat Patterns, I know feel as if I can get the ball to the 1-3 with the best of them. If you are looking for that IQ type ball roll, but more forward off the end of the pattern, look no further than the new 900 Global Exponent.

Welcome back to the land of low RG solids! It's my favorite place. 900 Global appears to have hit another home run with the Xponent. Using the same core from the Ordnance C4 but around a solid coverstock with numbers of 2.48/.042 this ball will be the first out of the bag on many, if not all, conditions. I drilled mine 4.25 x 4.25 (PAP of 4.5 over and 1 up) putting the pin below my ring finger. People have different definitions of "benchmark ball" but to me that means stable, predictable motion and the ability to easily clarify when ball changes are needed. The Xponent accomplishes all of that. I practiced on a very well used house pattern and the Xponent surprisingly cleared the fronts pretty easily (though it does want to rev up pretty quick) but didn't boomerang off the dry. The motion was very round, very steady, and very predictable. I firmly believe this will be a great piece for any style bowler looking for that type of motion. The XPonent is a new symmetric ball in 900 Global’s 700 series line. It features the new Reserve Blend 701 Solid coverstock, which feels similar to Storm’s R2S cover and Roto’s eTrax cover. The core is the Shrapnel 2.0 core from the Ordnance C4, which comes in at a 2.48 RG and a .042 differential. The XPonent feels a lot like a slightly stronger version of Roto’s Hyped Solid, reaction shape is part way between round and an arc and is somewhat directional. It will be continuous if you want it to be or will be forward if you want it to be. The XPonent has been used on several different conditions with a couple different surfaces. The XPonent’s box surface is 4000, but I find that changing the box surface helps to break the ball in faster, so I resurfaced it to 1000 and then finished it with Reacta Skuff to get it to a 3000ish grit sheen. At this surface, it fit well on the fresh on the Kegel Chromium pattern we use to test. It also feels quite a bit like an IQ Tour with a stronger backend move that’s a little more versatile when moving inside. As it lane shines, it weakens and also gets a little smoother, but this is great because it offers a lot of versatility, but also tames somewhat as the lane begins to transition, which helps you stay in the same place longer, or doesn’t require you to move as often or as much. With surface, the XPonent can definitely be a first ball out of the bag for most league conditions and is a strong consideration for most sport patterns of medium length and medium volume or below. With lane shine or polish, it can also be a step down from something like a Zen, Zen Gold Label, or a Phaze 2 both on tougher conditions and in league.

The xPonent filled a piece that was definitely missing in my bag, which was a relatively low end solid. The core/coverstock in this ball gives me a smooth, predictable shape that is fantastic for medium to short patterns. This ball will get a lot of use on typical house shots when I can stay straighter up the lane, or on more difficult patterns when I need help getting to the pocket

For me, I have found this ball to be excellent from further to the right out of box, with plenty of versatility with hand and surface adjustments. After throwing this ball on a couple of different patterns and houses. I have found that for me, the new Xponent compliments my Storm Phaze 2 perfectly, giving me and earlier option for when the Phaze 2 is a little too clean. I see a ton of commonalities in this ball when comparing it to the original IDOL. A spot in the bag that I have been looking to fill since its discontinuation. I can see this ball being in the bag for a while. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to control the front part of the lane, while maintaining energy off the end of the pattern. ok all...900 Global has came back with the new Xponent! Very nice rolling Symmetrical ball. It's like when you go to league or a tournament and don't know the oil pattern, this is the ball to grab, 1st out of the bag! It's an updated C4 they used to have. You can really read the mid-lane and watch the ball roll to the pocket! I bought 2 with drillings, one pin up and the other pin down. I actually love both! Use the pin up, then once you move and catch all the carry down and other bowlers, the pin down is in my hands. For the 900 Global players, its a step down from the Reality. For me, I have to keep the ball clean, wiped off after each shot. If anything, I might keep the pin up with a little lane shine to help with the back end. But try to keep the pin down with an out of the box surface. Hope this helps! Great ball!

If I had to describe this ball in one word it would be "BEAST"! I don't know what they were shooting for here, but they made an amazing motion of a ball. This is the first ball out of my bag currently. Many are saying IQ tour like feel. I agree to this, but it has more carry and more down lane motion. If my IQ isn't doing it for me, grab this beast and man, it delivers. I personally feel everyone should own one. This ball is a gem that we were not expecting.,

The Xponent features the Shrapnel 2.0 core wrapped in the reserve 701 solid cover. The Xponent screams benchmark. This is going to be a fantastic piece that can be first out of your bag to give you a read on the lanes. And on THS conditions with my down and in style, the results were fantastic. I loved early on fresh conditions how the Reserve Blend 701 cut through the fronts with a clean and clear track, allowing the Xponent to read in the mid-lane with a smooth yet, mildly biting motion. And without being overly aggressive, I liked how the Reserve Blend 701 doesn't overreact to friction when it comes off the pattern. So, whether early on the fresh oil playing right of the second arrow or moving in my angles as the conditions started breaking down, the reserve Blend 701 reads the lane conditions with a smooth and predictable motion that I felt confident with all night during league play. So, in closing this review, I would tell you 900 Global has done an excellent job with the Xponent. And the Xponent is all 900 Global claims it would be, and then some. Here we go: For the #striking worldwide fans – the Ordnance C4 core returns in this new ball from Global with the new 701 solid reactive cover. Using on fresh and used light to medium volume house pattern, the Xponent was reliable and predictable with playing up the track area and getting closer to the gutter and going up the lighter volume part the pattern – outside of 8-10 boards, once I bumped way inside around 16-20 board, it still held energy through the heads and did not burn up. Reminding me of the Zen Master with a longer pin layout I had a couple of years ago. Does not roll heavily through the front part of the lanes like other solids in this performance level. The Xponent matched up very well all on a full spectrum of lane surfaces and patterns. I'm already a big fan of this cover as most of the newer solid coverstocks have made it difficult for me to get the ball through the front of the lane where I bowl. This ball clears the front well and gives good consistant mid-lane motion. They paired this cover with the Shrapnel 2.0 Symmetric core that was featured in the Ordinance C4. This pairing has created the best benchmark ball I've thrown to date. I tested the Xponent on the house shot at my home center. Our house pattern is longer (43 ft) and higher volume (almost 30ml). The Xponent was great first ball out as it allowed me to play nearer to the friction, but not over-react on my small misses right. This ball gave me more area than any other I have thrown here, and really helped my first game average. It's also clean and continuous enough to stay in play though the transition. Navigating the ball change from game one can be one of trickiest parts of bowling in this particular center because they start out very cliffed and tend to carry- down alot as you bowl. The Xponent handles the fronts drying up and the back-ends getting tighter extremely well. I see this ball being useful for so many different styles of player because it is useful on so many different lane conditions. It's a great ball for starting a bit straighter than balls like the Phaze II might let you, but you don't run into the same problems with carrying while covering boards that the balls with really early covers give you. I drilled mine with a very neutral layout that was pin down. I really wanted to see how versatile this ball could be for me. It did not disappoint I was able to move left and open up my angles and the ball still came back, when the lanes were a little wetter, I was still able to move right and play straight without fear of the ball over hooking. Layout: 5 x 4 x 3 Surface: Box - 4000 Abralon I was very excited when I heard the announcement of this ball as I really liked the Ordnance C4. The Shrapnel 2.0 core is brought back in the Xponent from the Ordnance series which was a proven winner. The cover is the brand new reserve blend 701 solid which can handle a decent amount of oil and is very continuous down lane. Best designed for medium oil conditions, the Xponent will be that benchmark ball that is first out of the bag on a variety of different conditions. I was able to test this on the Kegel Sphinx sport pattern which a 40ft, 2:1 ratio with medium oil volume as well as a typical house pattern. On the Kegel Sphinx pattern, I saw a lot of continuation on the middle and back part of the pattern. The 4000 grit abralon surface allowed for easy push through the front of the lane while the low rg core got it to rev up strong in the midlane. The combination of cover and core here allows for easy predictability when the lanes are tough, or the pattern is fresh. The 4000 grit is definitely best suited for older lane surfaces or those who are more rev dominant or have slower speed. The continuation is so good with this ball that it is a ball for me that will come to all tournaments. On the pattern, I was able to play closer to the friction and more down and in on the fresh. As the pattern developed and I had to move to the inside part of the lane, I had no problem getting recovery and the right continuation through the pins. This is a slightly weaker Phaze 2 for me and reacts very similarly. Bringing the surface to a lower grit will help on more oil or if the ball feels too weak at 4000 grit. On the house pattern, I saw very similar reaction to the Sphinx Pattern. The Xponent allowed me to be up the lane more on the fresh with a little more firmer ball speed or the ability to play more left to right on the lane with my normal style. There is very high versatility with this Xponent where it will allow you to play the lanes for your style and environment. Compared to the Ordnance C4, I saw slightly earlier ball motion and more continuation through the pins. Compared to the Zen, I saw slightly cleaner motion through the front part of the lane and a more controlled backend. The Zen was overall stronger and gave more backend angle. The Xponent is definitely that benchmark ball that is smooth, continuous and predictable. A great first ball out of the bag for a wide range of bowlers. 900 Global’s iconic 700 Series line has a another hidden gem in it with the new Xponent. The Xponent has the same Shrapnel 2.0 symmetric core in it that was previously featured in the underrated Ordnance C4. The cover is the all-new Reserve Blend 701cover which is a solid. I drilled mine 5 x 5 x 3 and after throwing this ball for awhile, I am confident to say that this ball will stay in my bag for quite sometime. It is a touch stronger than an iQ Tour as a benchmark ball but I feel like since patterns have been seeing an increase amount of volume in them that this ball will complement the iQ Tour when the Tour is just not enough or if your looking for an upgrade from the Tour.

Preorder the 900 Global XPonent at your local pro shop. It is available on July 28, 2023. I went with the same layout I put on my Summit (30 x 3 3/8 x 20) and was not disappointed. For me it is a very similar motion compared to the Roto Grip TNT. The main difference for me is the XPonent is a bit cleaner and it just continues through the pins. Our Thursday scratch league bowls on Big Ben and I tried it out in practice but ended up going with the ball I have been using to start the nights out my Storm Pro Motion. At the end of game 2 I decided to use it for the 10th frame for the left lane which was tight all night. When compared to the Zen Gold Label, I had to move five boards right with my feet and three with my target at the arrows. The Xponent was much earlier and smoother in the backend. For a low to mid rev player this ball reads the mid lane very well and does not overreact down lane. I tested this ball on THS 44 Feet with great success playing multiple angles. This has to be one of my favorite releases to date! 900 Global introduces the brand new Xponent. This ball features the brand new 701 Blend Solid cover with an RG of 2.48 and Diff of .042. The cover and core combination makes this the perfect benchmark piece the global line has needed for a long time. This ball handles oil very well and surface changes amazingly. In comparison to the legendary Phaze 2, I see the Xponent saving more energy and being quicker off the spot. In comparison to the new Summit, I would say the summit is much earlier but still the same shape downlane. I see myself throwing the Xponent on a variety of patterns from straighter and when I need to open up the lane if I still need to stay in a benchmark piece.
