This is a super smooth ball for dry lanes. Great for leagues that have dry oil pattern. The striking power is crazy good. Runs the 8 pin over every time..

900 Global released a pair of complementary balls at the same time - the Cove and Ember. Both of the balls share the same Magna AI core, but The Cove is has the Reserve Blend 85 Hybrid cover finished at 4000 Grit. Personally, I found the 4000 grit a little bit too clean and initially scratched it up with a used 1500 pad and completely changed the reaction of the ball. In all likelihood, I’m going to keep it at 2000-3000 to put a bigger separation between the Cove and Ember. The rougher surface will get the Cove to read the lane a bit sooner and smooth it out some. All in all, the Cove and Ember will make a great 1-2 punch, starting with the Cove and moving to the Ember as the lanes break down. Layout: My Specs - Speed - 16 mph, Rev Rate - 280. Introducing the 900 Global Cove with the all-new symmetric Magna A.I. Core and hybrid reactive coverstock. This ball is ideal for medium to heavy oil conditions when you need smooth and continuous ball motion. I am slightly speed dominant, rev challenged 220-250ish, low tilt and high rotation. I drilled mine 40 x 4.5 x 20. My axis point is 4 3/8 over 1 3/8 up. I love this ball for medium oil conditions. This ball is clean but reads the midlane well and gives me an even and continuous motion. This is the perfect house shot league ball that I can stay right with in the games 1 and 2 of league. • Cove = Smooth

The Cove was one of the balls from the 900 Global dual release back in August along with the Ember. Both balls have the same all-new symmetric Magna A.I. Core. On the 15# ball, the RG 2.49 is in the middle (not high or low) and the Dif is 0.044 which is on the lower end of middle. The Cove features the all-new rapid oil absorption rate Reserve Blend 85 Hybrid Reactive cover. Based on 900 Global’s coverstock numbering system, that makes it stronger than the Zen 25 (RB 83) and weaker than the Origin Ex (RB 89). What does all this mean? The Cove sits squarely in the medium/middle range. It’s a middle of the bag symmetrical. I’d say it’s similar to Rockstar. It comes with 4000 factory finish, but appears to be versatile. If you want it to pick up a little earlier, sand it up a little. If you want it to be a little cleaner, let it lane shine or put some polish on it. Either way, the word that best describes it is smooth. I drilled mine with the pin under my middle finger which is 5” from my PAP. It feels like it’s better keeping your angles a little more square. If you want to open up a lot, you probably need something clearner with more backend (Ember ?!?) or even more Dif. The color of the Cove can be polarizing. At first, I wasn’t wild about the bright lime green. But once I heard it referred to as the sherbert ice cream ball, it grew on me. Bottom line, if you are looking for a smooth middle of the bag symmetrical ball, you should consider punching up a Cove.

Layout: 40 x 4 3/8 x 35 The Cove is a ball that every bowler should have in their bag – it is controllable, smooth, and has all the qualities of a great benchmark bowling ball. The Cove is right at home on medium to medium-heavy patterns, and has a smooth arc reaction. It doesn't have a ton of midlane, which if it did would push it more into the heavy oil ball category. Instead, it is clean enough to still be usable when the lanes break down. This ball is a perfect step down from the Sublime Focus or Phaze 2, both of which have quite a bit more midlane traction.

900 Global released 2 new pieces this month. The Hybrid version is the Cove. I drilled my Cove 4 3/4 x 4 x 2 standard pin up drilling that I like to use for my symmetrical bowling balls. 1st impressions were very smooth reaction and very controllable. Reminds me of a ball down from the RG Rock Star. Great ball for the 1st game of league or on the fresh sport pattern. With my roll, I could use it for the 1st couple of games of league but when I had to chase it left it was having trouble getting the corners out. But Team Utah has a lot of choices to use when we get left. (Storm Ion Solid). Great shelf appeal and great medium ball to have in your arsenal. The 900 Global Cove has quickly become one of my favorite benchmark pieces in the current lineup because of how smooth and reliable it is on medium to heavier conditions. Compared to the Zen 25, the Cove is noticeably more controlled and rounded off the spot, giving me a motion I can trust when I don’t want the extra pop or flare the Zen brings. Against the Origin EX, the Cove feels like a clear step down in overall strength, which makes it the perfect option once the stronger covers start reading too early or getting too jumpy. I really like how it pairs with the Ember as well—the Ember gives me that cleaner, more angular look, while the Cove blends everything out and keeps me in the pocket. For me, the Cove fills that ideal first-ball-out-of-the-bag role, reading the lane early enough to give control but still continuous enough to carry when the lanes transition.

The Cove will create a smooth but continous backend. The Cove is a symmetric core with a hybrid coverstock. Such is the case with their new releases of the Cove and Ember! In this review, let’s take a closer look at the Cove and how its symmetric Magna A.I. Core and RB85 Hybrid Coverstock cultivate the outstanding performance any bowler could ask for, at a mid-level price that dominates the competition. From my first roll with the Cove, I found the all-new symmetric Magna A.I. Core to be smooth-rolling, stable, and, most importantly, vigorously predictable off the pattern for my older, low-rev hand. Yet, the Magna A.I. Core doesn’t stop there. With the added A.I. Core technology wrapped around the Magna Core, I found my Cove to have a powerful punch at the pins and a relentless continuation that made striking that much easier, enjoyable, and fun. I further discovered that the Magna A.I. Core provides the Cove with a well-balanced rolling motion, making it a dependable workhorse that will deliver results for any straighter player, like me. The icing on the cake for me about the Cove was the outstanding Reserve Blend (RB85) Hybrid Coverstock. As an older, straighter, and low-rev player, Hybrid coverstocks suit my game best, especially on a THS. The RB85 Hybrid on the Cove is the perfect blend of solid and pearl, providing me with the predictable balance of consistency and aggressiveness I love to have in my arsenal. I loved how the RB85 Hybrid clears the front part of the lane with ease, regardless of the changing conditions you see during league play. Furthermore, I could count on the RB85 Hybrid to consistently read the mid-lane with its smooth, dependable traction and without depleting the Cove’s energy. So, when the Cove comes off the pattern, it has that crisp and sharp punch we straighter players like to see, especially when we hit high-flush! So, if you’re a straighter player, you can count on the RB85 Hybrid coverstock to deliver results. In conclusion, 900 Global has done an outstanding job in creating and formulating the all-new Cove! The Cove is an excellent combination of benchmark and power! With the all-new Magna A.I. Core and the RB85 Hybrid Coverstock, the Cove will certainly bring results to any straighter player’s game. 900 Global Cove Cover: 4000 Grit RB 85™ Hybrid Reactive Core: Magna™ + A.I. Core (Symmetrical) Color: Blue/Sand/Teal Review: 900 Global is really hitting the mark with their releases as of late and we are really excited for this 1-2 punch that was introduced at bowl expo this year in the Cove and its sibling Ember. We drilled this ball with our normal layout: tweener, 350-375 revs, 16.5mph, layout of choice is 5x4x2 (pin is above bridge). This is one of those bowling balls that is a home run for us. Hybrids tend to be that ball that just works on so many conditions and houses in the PNW region. The Cove seems to retain energy for days. It is literally as if the Xponent and the Origin had a baby. Overall it does hook less than the Origin and is smoother front to back similar to the Xponent. This is definitely a “benchmark” type bowling ball shape wise. If you are looking for something very strong and angular to start out when seeing heavy oil this probably isn’t the best option for you. If you are looking for a smooth and predictable shape that you can use for multiple games then this works great. The colors are definitely louder than some others on the shelf and we hope this release doesn’t get overlooked. 900 Global Cove Ball specs: All new Magna A.I. core with a new aggressive RB85 hybrid coverstock with a factory finish of 4000 grit. My Specs: Rev rate 420’s, ball speed 15.3 to 15.8 mph off the hand, axis tilt of 16 degrees and axis rotation of 70 degrees, PAP is 3 15/16th up 3/16th. Tested on Pro-lane surface on a 43ft medium volume house pattern and 37ft sport pattern. The all-new 900 Global COVE is new from every aspect. Developed by the great minds at SPI, the COVE was engineered to add an aggressive hybrid to the already popular Global line up. Global’s signature single core density continues with the all new Magna A.I. core to deliver consistency down lane shot after shot from the fresh condition and through the breakdown. Geared towards the traditional house pattern lengths and volumes, the new RB 85 hybrid cover adds an aggressive cover above the other THS balls like the Rock Star and Equinox. For me, I drilled it 2 x 6 x 3, one of my favorite layouts I used for league play, and the ball performed well above my expectations after seeing the ball being used at Bowl Expo 2025. The consistency of the reaction was very impressive. Stronger reaction than my Rock Star and RST Hyperdrive Solid, but less angular than the Gremlin and Ember. The COVE won’t replace my Rock Star, but when the Rock Star is not quite enough strength in the backend, or when the Gremlin or Ember is too angular in the back end. A strong alternative benchmark ball over the Rock Star, iQ Tour series, or Phaze II. #SquadRG #3GShoes #ViseInserts #CoolWick #BowlersSupply #abcnorthlanesandlounge

The Cove is a great ball to start your night off with. I can really utilize the fresh with this ball from the start. Expect this ball to be a nice continuous motion in the backend and nothing to sharp off the back, very controllable. I find this working well around the fresh and into the transition phase. If you’re looking for something to throw on the fresh and can use during transition, this is one to have in the bag. Cove and Ember are ones to keep together in the bag, they work very well together.

The Cove is a hybrid that was missing in the 900 Global brand. It’s very versatile for multiple lane conditions. My layout is 4 3/4 x 4 1/8 x 4. The layout is pin down, which allows me to keep my angles closer to the pocket, and allowes me to start on the fresh conditions. The Cove is very predictable, drives through the pins great, and fits the gap in the 900 Global catalog! Definitely a great ball to start off with!

I was not expecting to like this ball, even though it looks great on the shelf. But I was very wrong. This ball is strong but not crazy strong and it revs up nicely and stays continuous. The hybrid cover makes sure it comes off the friction well and the continuous rev’ving motion really fits the eye. I’d be very comfortable throwing this ball on a lot of conditions. Fresh and for a good long time in the transition. I think eventually it would get a little slow but that’s when the Ember could come in. Don’t sleep on this Cove like I did, it’s a really good piece!

Rev Rate: 340 rpm Avg. Ball Speed: 14.5 mph PAP: 5 1/2" x 1/2" ↑ Layout: 4 x 4.5 x 4 The 900 Global Cove has been a great fit in my bag because of how dependable and smooth the motion is, no matter where I line up on the lane. The Magna A.I. core gives me a really steady roll, and paired with the RB85 Hybrid cover, it digs in just enough in the midlane without losing energy too early. What I like most is how continuous the motion is—it never feels lazy downlane and always drives through the pins with confidence. On medium to heavier oil, it’s the type of ball I can pull out first and trust to give me a true read, making it a reliable benchmark option that I keep coming back to. I opted to polish my Cove so that it fit as a ball down from the Ion Pro.

The new 900 Global Cove features an all-new core design, the Manga A.I. core. The coverstock is the Reserve 85 Hybrid coverstock in blue/sand/teal to add shelf appeal. At 15 pounds the Cove has an RG of 2.49 and differential of .044. I drilled my Cove 5x5x2 which puts the pin above my bridge. The Cove’s cover helps it through the fronts. This ball really picks up in the middle of the lane and has a slow response time to friction. The backend motion is very even in an arcing motion. This ball is perfect for fresh conditions with medium volume and length. The ball motion allows me to play straighter angles and play closer to the friction without having the ball overreact. As the night went on and I had to continually chase the pattern left and open my angles a bit, that’s where this ball got out of its comfort zone and I started to leave weak corner pins. Luckily, Global 900 introduced the Ember to be the next ball out of my bag. The Cove will be a great ball for lower rev players who are looking for a very controllable but strong ball.

The Cove is one of the newest additions to the 800 series at 900 Global and it’s been impressive so far. If you’ve seen any of the marketing over the summer from 900 Global, they released a two-ball punch with the Cove and Ember and the results have been great. Both balls are symmetrical and the Cove is designed to be an earlier-reading ball while the Ember is designed to provide more length and a quicker response time. The Cove offers a hybrid coverstock, an RG of 2.49, and a differential of .044. I’ve drilled one so far and really like it. I mapped it out as 5 x 5 x 2. This puts the pin above my ring finger and the CG is stacked. I also took a bit of the surface off by using a 3000 pad and water. The centers around me have quite a bit of early friction so I wanted the Cove to still get through the front of the lane and not burn up too early. I’ve been able to use the Cove on multiple patterns and surfaces with success. I think the Cove compliments the Origin EX, Ember, and Ion Pro Solid extremely well, so if you’ve drilled those, I think the Cove would be a great addition to your bag. Go drill one!

Symmetric core will define your benchmark arsenal for the upcoming bowling season. My layouts are: Cove - pin down under bridge for control on the fresh Ember - Pin above ring for the strong backends and transition My Cove at 4000 was sluggish and more forward at box condition. A light buff with Power Edge provided the much needed power retention and allowed the cover to be more responsive at the breakpoint. This compared to my pin down Sublime is a similar shape with more length and usability in league. My Ember was next up after 1.5 games. 3 board move left to open up the fronts and watched the Power Edge polish push the to its happy spot. While ignoring some friction my layout still offer myself control at the breakpoint with continuation thru the pin deck. You basically get 4 balls out of this combo before of the versatility in cover adaption. This is possibly the easiest 2 ball arsenal choices I have ever had to start league. Cove, along with Ember, adds a whole new dimension to the SPI lineup! I personally have really missed a mid-diff symmetrical option for those medium house shots and older lane surfaces where the big stuff just doesn't store enough energy. The Cove, with it's hybrid coverstock, creates a nice mix of traction and downlane continuation. Honestly, this ball hooks more downlane than i anticipated, which makes it more usable than other symmetrical balls with smoother covers. This ball fills a much-needed gap for me, along with the Ember, and they are both gonna round out my league bag nicely! You don't wanna miss this dual release! The perfect 1-2 punch.

Layout: 4 1/2 x 4 x 2 1/2 Surface: 4000 Abralon Rev Rate: 470 Tilt: 13* The brand new 900 Global Cove brings a brand new core and coverstock combination in the 800 series lineup. The Cove uses the new Magna AI Core which is symmetrical to bring a low rg and medium differential that has not been in the line since the Xponent. The coverstock is the new Hybrid S85 which offers a quite of bit of control with ample continuation to use as more of that benchmark type ball. On my 44ft typical house pattern, the Cove matched up really well on the fresh as expected. Its controllable nature allowed the ball to read the front and middle parts of the lane fairly well while not trying to be angular downlane. This is the ideal ball motion for most fresh conditions. I was able to use this ball a little straighter than most other balls in the line on the fresh but was certainly not as forward as a urethane type ball. As the lanes transitioned and I had to move to the inside part of the lane, my carry became a little hit and miss. Its control aspect became a little too controllable at times and I often left the corner pins. A change in hand position to add axis rotation allowed the ball to get down the lane a little further and give more angularity down lane which allowed me to continue striking more. I was actually surprised how strong the coverstock felt on this Cove. I think it will be a nice benchmark piece on a variety of conditions where the lane surface isn't great. It will still be a step below the Sublime Focus in quick comparison as the core and coverstock are noticeably weaker. The cove would be most ideal for those bowlers who like controllable ball motion and those who like to play straighter up the lane. It will be best on fresher lane conditions or a ball down from the Sublime Focus. Shining up this ball will give a little more length and backend but will still be pretty controllable overall. The new hybrid ball is called the Cove. It features a smaller core than you saw in the zen line. The drop in differential is complimented by a new RB85 cover that features a rapid oil absorption rate. This gives you an incredibly consistant mid-lane read with great continuation. I tested the cover for the first time in league. I figured with it's mid differential I would have to square it up a bit more. I gotta tell you this cover gives you more than you'd expect given the core numbers. I was at least as far left as I was accustomed to playing with my Zen 25. The shape is definitely mid-laney and smooth. It really reminds me of the XPonent in the mid-lane. If there was anything the X-ponent suffered from it was that is saw the mids so hard it stuggled to finish when covering boards. The Cove corrects that and as a result is one of my new favorite pieces. I honestly didn't go into the ball with high expectations but I think this ball is gonna be a surprise for a lot of bowlers. It looked great first game out. I did change out of it just because I had other balls I wanted to test that night, but another look at it the next day revealed that it was still in play at the end of the league session. It also seems to respond well to hand position changes so it's pretty versatile. This ball should be a fantastic tournament piece but it is great on the house shot too. I feel like this is one of those balls that might fit different parts of the bag for different people but that will be useful for everyone.
