Visionary Gryphon 3 - G3 Bowling Ball

(11 reviews) Write a Review
The dual-toned G-3 Gryphon takes the core used in the Burgundy Particle Gryphon and encases it with our pearlized G-3 coverstock to create a ball that will get through the heads with ease, and retain it’s energy for a very strong backend reaction. This ball was designed for most medium conditions and has a true skid-snap reaction. As is the case for most pearlized reactives, the G-3 Gryphon produces the strongest reaction on fresh backends, but with the lower RG and higher differential (flare potential) it is able to get into a roll even with some carrydown. The core used in the GRYPHON line offers a low RG (2.50″) with a high Differential (.056″). This allows the Gryphons to read earlier than other balls with similar covers but the heavy flip cap keeps the Gryphons from losing energy too soon. The Gryphons are great balls for almost every style. This ball is powered by an elongated symmetrical, dual density inner core design with a tapered cylindrical wrap. The differential created by this combination allows the ball to rev up and read the midlane while the dense flip cap helps create the strong break on the backend.

I've have thrown some pearls in the past, But this one's a keeper. I have the best of both worlds, control and POWER! I can go up the boards with it, or move in and swing it out! At 1500 grit it can be a little grabby, but at 2000 polished it unleashed it power! I'm amazed that I haven't seen more bowlers have this ball! I've had mine for about 5 years, and it keeps up with today's equipment! It's just like the tour iq pearl! Like any ball just keep it clean, and this visionary ball will last you! It's my go-to ball when the frankie may is just too much, or they haven't put out the oil, more of a medium condition, no worries, just pull out the G-3, and you'll be in scoring heaven!

Basically,my G-3 Gryphone was drilled as Axis Pattern.Pin up & CG kick out around 1" from center of grip.My G-3 weight is 15lbs 2 oz,Top 3.28 oz,Pin 3-4". Several shots on following paths on 38" feet oil. Inside-Out (Arrow 3-1) ->The ball goes very deep & not able to reach the solid pocket hitting position.Mostly hit the 3 pin straight & carry a bit king pin. This path is very sensative for G-3 when missed shots. Light inside-out (Arrown 2.5-1) ->This route allows G-3 have most largest tolerance in the pocket. When ever you go for deeper or lighter. The G-3 can make suffieicent recovery for strike. Outside (Arrow 1.5-1) ->Have to deliver longer.Otherwise easy overcross pocket & left difficult splits. But if can control this path well. Most of energy can transfer to pins.Lot strikes with lot corner pins.

This was my ball of choice this year. I would pull this out of my bag first and see what it would do. Overall, I am exceptionally happy with this ball, as it won me the hightest point total in their yearly honor score contest for 2004. I drilled this up using a 5x4 layout, I generally prefer a 4x4, but wanted to try something a little different. With this layout, I didn't get the true skid snap reaction, for obvious reasons. It weighed 15 lbs with abou 3oz top and about a 3 in. pin. So in conclusion, my review of this ball is awesome, especially with the Gryphon core. This one is a winner! 3 800's, 3 300's, 2 299's, a bunch of 11 in a rows with this ball. Get one of these now! If you have any doubts about Visionary, forget about them. This is the best company out there, and they will take good care of you, especially Betsy!<scri

This ball gets down the lane and absolutely destroyes the pins. When the outside boards are flying and you have to get down the lane with energy this is the ball to go to. This ball is drilled stacked leverage and hooks as much as my Violet Gargoyle. When I can get the corners to fall because the Violet is burning up early I reach in my bag and no more tens for me. Visionary products could possibly be on the verge of revolutionizing bowling as we know it. Everything they make hits like a mac truck. Give it a try.

We recently had a ball league at the house I work in, so I got to drill quite a few of these for quite a few different styles... Not one person had a complaint... the ball had tremendous skid with booming back end for everyone from the crankers to the strokers. You can't go wrong with this ball.. I shot my first 800 using it my first game (279)... This gem probably is not the best ball for an over-under shot due to the skid, but on your typical house shot, its worth twice the money it costs..<

I bowled with it in back to back tournaments and averaged 240+ in both tournaments. Shot my highest series with it which was my first 800. Also had my first 300 with it to. I also strung 26 strikes in a row with it. Had a three game set of 300,286, and a 241 which gave me a 827 series. Best ball to throw when you need to carry out the corners. i would recomend this ball to anybody who was looking for something that was versatile and had a strong backend. Also if your looking for a ball that carries this it so dont pass it up.

G3 drilled label leverage. I'm a tweener and this ball gives me cranker power. I call the G3 my "All or Nothing" ball. This ball will reward you for quality shots made. But if you're not on top of your game, this ball will be very hard to control. I can't imagine drilling this ball stacked leverage. It revs quickly in the oil but holds its line until hitting dry ... then it makes a hard turn. If you like to swing the ball or need something for playing deeper inside, the G3 is a great choice. Great Visionary hit and carry. Definitely worth buying.

Layout #1: 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 Layout #2: 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 Both of these things hook like mad on the backends. They go about forty-five feet on a typical house shot, see the breakpoint and move in the shape of a hockey stick. This can be a wonderful ball for carrydown because the pearl reactive coverstock is unfailing in the heads or it can be a good ball for a typical house shot. However, if you choose the G-3 for a house shot, be ready to bump in about 5-10 boards from any other skid/flip reactive you've every thrown.

I bought this ball as part of my Visionary membership back in February. I needed something to go to when my Deuce was too much. Although this ball wasn't the answer I was looking for, she still got my attention. Specs: Weight - 15 Pin out 2-3" Top Weight - 3.2 Drilling - Modified 10:30 drill, with a weight hole. I started throwing her very late in the '03-04 season so I didn't get to work with her very much. As I said earlier, I was hoping she'd be weaker than my Deuce, but after half a game I found out that she's a bit stronger. I averaged 225 with her for the four weeks I threw her, but I had to put her away. The lane oiler supposedly started "malfunctioning" and couldn't remember what pattern to put down, so it decided to go drier. After fixing mechanics problems throughout the first half of the '04-05 season, I brought her back out in January. The ball I couldn't control very well was now carrying everything I threw it at. Averaging 15.3mph (according to t

The Visionary G-3 Ball is simply amazing. Guaranteed to turn heads and bring bowlers from all over the lanes asking what you are throwing. This ball is anything but tame. Rolls deep without effort and when it turns (flips is much more accurate) look out! Destroys the rack. The entry angle rarely leaves ten pins. Fresh lanes with oil up front with clean backends may be too much ball for many as the lanes are providing the skid/flip that this ball will only exaggerate. I've thrown nearly every top of the line skid/flip ball since their inception. The Visionary G-3 has the strongest backend, with a continuous drive that can best be termed as violent, then any of them. Simply an unparalled bowling ball.

4 inch pin drilled to go long, goes fairly long. Wanted a 4th -6th game ball, playing 20,25 to 10. Was usable only if backends were fresh, and had to put a little more hand and a little less speed. Put some storm xtra-shine hi-polish and now it is my go to ball on sport shots and harder tournament shots. Goes straight 40 then makes slight to decent turn for the pocket. Really calm now. The inferno with the same drilling is a much better choice if you want a little more bump and jump, but nonetheless this one is a keeper.
