Visionary Centaur Bowling Ball

(16 reviews) Write a Review
By combining a modified version of our DC core, a new fully adjustable reactive coverstock, and a price that's easy on the wallet, we have created a ball that is a must have for league bowlers. The Green/Blue CENTAUR was designed to easily get through the heads, start revving up in the midlane, and make a strong but controllable and predictable backend move. The Green/Blue Centaur utilizes a modified version of the DC core design, and a new Green and Blue solid reactive coverstock. *** This is a modified version - not the original DC core. The bottom cap was removed, the densities changed and a wrap placed around the inner portion. The result is a very low differential core producing low flare (usually 2" or less). The core produces a much more even and milder reaction compared to the original DC weight block.

when lanes are dry, spotty, unpredictable, rough, tough, hard, hooking, hooking more, and hooking most. Predictability in a nut shell. The ball rolls through all that nasty sh_t and gives you a consistant look without the flaming soft 10 pins. If you need a friend when everything else turns their back on you and leaves you standing alone - this is it. Linus would call it the safety blanket. Your baby would call it a rattle. This ball is that huge tight end when you have a quarterback who cant throw the ball downfield. In other words - just drill it and keep it around for safety reasons. thank you and have a great day.

After 1 year, this is the ball I go to when nothing seems to work. Even on heavier conditions, just point it a little and this ball does the rest. It works on the most important part of the lane, the pin deck. It is at it's best on medium-dry lanes, when a small belly can be awesome. but it works on shots that it shouldn't, and this ball will be with me for tournaments. If you want a ball that works down lane, where it is counts. Buy the Blue Green Centaur! This is the best ball on the pindeck that I have ever owned.

This ball is great for dryer lanes, second shift leagues, and late blocks of tournaments. Will pick up a roll fairly early for a dry lane ball but does not roll out or lose hitting power. You can move in with this ball but rarely is there a need to go deeper than the third arrow. Not recommended for more than medium oil lanes. Ball loses all hitting power in oil, as it needs to build up a roll. The earlier the ball picks up a roll the harder it hits. Also, no need to polish this ball. Leave at out of box finish.

Visionary has done something unusual with this ball. They took a step backwards in performance and actually filled a niche that was growing larger day by day. This ball is an asymmetric, albeit a weak one. The coverstock is a mild solid that seems to be a perfect match for the weightblock in it. This ball is truly a gem. No other ball I have ever used has filled its purpose so fully and yet performed its task so well as the CENTAUR does. Mine is drilled 4 X 5 with the M.B. in the thumbhole and the pin over the bridge. No x-hole was needed. Polish was added, but only because I liked its looks better that way. Little did I know that it would make the ball even better. This ball does exactly what it was made to do, CONTROL THE DRY AND STILL "HIT" hard! This is a small flaring ball, designed to be used on drier conditions, but DO NOT underestimate this ball. I have used it on many fresh conditions with hooking backends and have carried the world with it. Surface

This ball does just what Visionary claims it will and delivers beyond expectation with every outing. On wet/dry it is at its best and preforms flawlessly as advertised,on dry it will not get grabby and jump just an even arc that will make anyone look like a pro piping the twig. for you down and in strokers and tweeners get one of these orbs in your hand and twirl it up the pipe and see the competition kringe as you effortlessly pound them into submission frame after frame. Man I love this game. What's In Your Bag ?

Pin right of and above the ring finger, CG is just right of grip center, MB is even with and at the right edge of thumb hole. Played a medium top hat from the oil line, swung two boards at the 24 foot mark. Great reaction and finish. When carrydown started to stop the carry, I moved two boards deeper but kept the 24 foot target. Got a bigger move and drove around the carry down. The reaction was consistant, and the finish through the pins was impressive. I'm looking forward to trying this ball on a deeper line on dryer shot.

This ball is much better than advertized. With practise I have been able to learn the right release for this ball. Baring operater mistake this ball WILL find it's way to the pocket. This ball makes making mistakes harder, because it is so consistant. I have been able to make more spares and more strikes, and higher scores. Don't misunderstand I am still able to screw up, but not as often. I have only used the outside line with this ball so far,but I am sure that with more practise I will be able to shoot most any line I want to. One more thing,if you were watching and only watching the ball you would think that one of the leftys on tour was throwing this ball. Again I want to say this ball won't make you a great bowler, but it WILL help get you there. I have the mild drill on this ball,I belive it is called the 1:30 drill. I throw a mean machine wth my right hand and I'm guessing that the blue/green with the strong drill would give the MM a run for it's money. With that said I will stop

Have two (2) of these bowling balls. The layout is the same with one dull finish and other a polished finish. A great combination for out of town tournaments. When playing a longer oil pattern the polished one is good for spare shooting. With a shorter pattern is used, the dull ball come into play. I use this ball more as a heavy roller into the pocket from the outside. For league play the polished bowling ball comes out in the third game because the heads begin to breakdown and I will move to the extreme outside (4-5 board), slow the ball speed down and give the ball more tilt.

I really like the Centaur line. You get a mass biased ball at a great price and a predicatable reaction. With my revs and speed, I polish everything. This ball comes dull, buy even polished the ball reaction is pretty much the same. Polished I get and additional 10 feet before it breaks. I drilled this one with the pin next to the ring finger and put the MB in the track. A very smooth and predictable reaction for the late shift. I als found this ball carries better playing outside more so than the tighter inside line. For the price, this is another winner from Visionary. I was a bit suprised at this ball. I bought this for when the Blue Gryphon is too much. I was exactly right on that one. When the Blue Gryphon is too much, I'll pull this one out! Kinda funny though, the Gryphon is shined and hooks too much, and this one is dull and hooks just right when they are fried. Obviously the low RG. Granted it comes 1000 and I took it down to 600, but my house shot condition doesn't have fresh, or good backends at all. This ball, as I said before is wonderful when the entire lane is fried. I don't normally play outside of 5, but I found that setting it down on 10 out to 5 with a little bit of speed, and this ball just crushed the pocket. I found that if I did get into any oil, it would just skid forever! But read further and I hope to explain this phenomenon. When I drilled this it was 15 lbs, with 2 1/2 top and 3 inch pin. The pin was just to the right of the midline of the fingers, above (of close to) the ring, and the mass bias ended up in the strong

I drilled it with the pin above and in the center of the fingers and the cg kicked out to the right... (the same as my brunswick nemesis)... On our house shot I have to throw the Centaur up 6, I have to throw the nemesis off the left gutter out to 10.. same speed... What amazed me was how the Centaur, with so little hook, crushed the hole as hard if not harder then the nemesis... My only issue with the ball is that it has ABSOLUTELY no give for me if I push it.. I can pull it all day long and score, but if pushed... 5 count washout.. Oh, if you don't put a ton of hand in the ball, prepare to own a pretty green spare ball..

This was the biggest trial and error ball I've ever had. I am Visionary pro staff and have the benefit of drilling another if I mess up. This was the first time I'd REALLY messed up. The first one I drilled 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 with the mass bias 2 inches from my thumb (there's the mistake). Also, with the pin below my fingers. The second one I drilled 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 with the mass bias 3 3/8 inches from my thumb (this one's a keeper). Pin above my fingers. Ball #1: This thing thumped holes and barely hooked at all. I have found a use for it, by polishing it. The ball hooks just a couple of boards more than my slate blue gargoyle, so it can be thrown on toast when urethane won't carry. Ball #2: The second one was dynamite. By putting the pin up, I avoided the holes. Also, by swinging the mass bias out, a major error was avoided. If you look at the core cutaway, you will see that there is a disk 90 degrees from the pin on the ball. The center of this puck is indicated wit

I did have the ball drilled alittle differently than my other visionary products ( purple and crimson executioners) but for my style of bowling the ball doesn't work very well. Ring finger is just touching the pin. Even when I do get out of it cleanly the ball doesn't react well. I suppose to a point that is a good thing, because it seemed to want to leave a bunch of 7 pins instead of 10 pins. The problem is that even though I do bowl with above average speed and not as many revs as I would like, I have been able to get most anything to move enough for me. I haven't left a 5 pin in so long I really can't remember until recently. Even I pretty nice shots the 5 and 7 pins are the last to fall. I haven't ever had that problem with anything, including my trust white dot. Last week alone I left 3 5 pins and there wasn't an adjustment that could've been made. After about 12 league games and a few practice games I sold it. The ball was alot like my Crimson executioner without the power
