I've had the Vertigo in my arsenal for almost 3 years and when my more agressive balls are over-reacting, I fallback to this ball. I love the consistency and pin carry even when you are slightly off the mark. If the Vertigo was still available, it will make a fine addition to your arsenal. If you find one, get it and it will reward you with good scores. My bowling style is that of a stroker and I roll the ball very smoothly and get a nice arc into the pocket; for you tweeners and crankers the Vertigo should allow you to play a deep inside line with ease. The amaretto scent is also pleasant without being an annoyance.

Great ball for anyone who needs a little extra movement, and enough forgivability to miss your mark, and doesnt need to be left at home because the tournament oil doesnt work for the ball, it always will. I bought the ball two years ago and threw a 688 right out of the box. i also took 3rd in a tournament throwing it last year I was pleasantly surprised with how much this ball would hook on heavy oil, but could still be controllable on medium to even light oil. This ball is the best ball on the market if you like to play a tight, deep line. It holds through the oil, and makes a strong turn on the backend toward the pocket, and hits the pins with enough force to move a small car

had the ball, shot 820 2nd time throwing the ball. shot 300 6 months later with the same ball(with the original surface). i had put the ball away when i decided to take it out of the closet few months later. i sanded it at 400 and the ball was a real tractor. it was great in oil and even quite good on drier conditions(and by the way im a crankor). i never got such a good ball in oil!! and the cover last for ever.... until one day i pulled the ball out of my bag and the cover was craked half way around the ball. and its not becase the ball froze because i always keep my stuff inside and +, it was at spring time and it was relatively warm outside. well anyways to anyone who has the chance to own that ball, KEEP IT!!!!! and if you want a ball for heavy oil, sand it!! dont be shy, 800, 600, even 400!!

I purchased this ball on eBay, dirt cheap. It is a FIRST LINE and not X-Out or Blem. Cost including drilling and inserts was less than $100. My ball speed is very slow (11-14 mph on a good day) so I had it drilled #2-B Layout (1.5" pin) with the RAD just right of the thumb hole. A balance hole had to be drilled. The ball was matte 800-grit finish out of the box. I used it for 12 games or so and it just seemed to die too early. It was losing the energy way too early. So I put it in the ball polishing machine (not always the best way) but our house has a good machine for Reactive Resin balls. The first time through the machine I tried the ball again. Yet the ball was still finishing too early. The second time I put it in the polisher it came out highly polished and looking brand new. This time the reaction was much better. The ball's hook is much more delayed and the reaction is more of a skid-snap type of reaction. The polished version is much better for my slow speed.

I got this ball at the end of a league last night. I had it drilled just in time for my scratch league and man did this thing make some noise. I threw this ball effortlessly and it did the rest. First game out of the hole...a 300!!! Second game a 279, and a lax 220 in the final game due to lack of oil. I noticed that Storm has discontinued this ball, but man if you are one of the lucky ones with it in the bag, this ball will take your game a long way. This is an awesome ball! KEEP IT!

I bought the ball from a bowler with a similar span but no grips in the fingers. With this ball I raised my average 7 pins (193 to 200) within eight weeks. This ball is fantastic and can use it the entire night. I took it to a tournament and added finger grips and bowled for the first time on a sport condition. I shot 690 and this ball maintained a consistant shot ball after ball. This is the first ball out the bag anywhere I bowl. I have really started to enjoy bowling again after nearly two years of struggling with 16 pounders and bad drills. Thank you storm

It is on of the best balls I have throwed. I also have an Ace between the two I got it covered. You can't let up on the speed it is a speed freak. When you hit the pocket the pins disapeared. If you play to far outside it comes back so hard that you can leave the 10 pin. I have mine drilled up to go long with the pin above the ring finger. It likes wood lanes but it really likes Synthetic. I think if you do not like to move around this is the ball to get it will help your game with a ball that is good in med. or light oil like the Ace.

I have the best luck with the Vertigo between boards 2-12. Haven't yet seen any crankers using the Vertigo successfully beyond about board 15, but I bowl at two relatively small houses. When the pattern shifts, I switch to the pearlized Paradigm, which really likes to head out to the gutter and back in. I'm tempted to buy a couple extra Vertigos for the inevitable time when this one fades out. Don't yet if I will have them drilled out in a variety of layouts. Guess I need to scroll through all these reviews and see what folks are finding useful, once I figure out the terminology. Looks like that will take some time.

3 of my friends have x-factor veritgos I have thrown all 3 have them our hands and drilling layouts are all about the same and we all throw the same lines with the normal variations i.e. speed, revolution and axis. they were broken in when I throw them nothing dierctly out of the box this is my opinion and no one elses: Each vertigo got past the heads great really easy and stuff the ball read the mid lane great and started hooking then when it came time to hit the pins the ball just quit it looked lazy hitting the pins no mix at all. Even when my friends use theirs and I have my Morich Mayhem out you can see and hear the diffrence in power. So Overall I say Vertigo is over rated big time<s

For me, this is not an even-arced ball, but it still moves reliably. I like its explosive character; when it's functioning, it's really fun to roll. Depending on lane conditions, it works for me as a high axis, semi-rolling dynamo from board 3 to 18. If the lanes are too dry, at 15-17 mph, I can see it burn up in the friction and flatten out at 50 feet. Usually, a bit of loft or speed fixes that problem entirely. I'm not one of those guys who uses a ball for three months, then buys a new one. I expect mine to last a bit longer, so . . . I'm going to try baking the Vertigo, then refinishing it. I don't know - React-a-clean or Windex isn't doing the trick right now.

I've had this ball for about 7 months. At first I was disappointed. It didn't hook as much as advertised and it had no backend. I couldn't get any carry out of it. My pro shop recommended that I get it polished. They shined it up to 1000 and it made a big difference. Now it revs up, goes to mid lane and breaks to the pocket. I had it drilled to read the mid lane, pin above and slightly right of the ring finger. Much better back end power than my XXX. This is a great ball for ordinary league conditions.

This ball is still as strong as ever, even after 200 games have been put on its milage. This ball, with regular maintenance and occasional surfacing, still maintains the power that it had since the first time i threw it down the lane. The ball revs up really hard and still hits stronger than anything i've ever seen. I love this ball and have yet to find a flaw in it. This ball will still be a strong ball through the years, even after it is discontinued. It is simply amazing. Like before, I recommend this ball to anyone seeking a ball that will work well for oil and still have a monster backend reaction. Do yourself a favor and pick one up.

I have a Vertigo that is drilled Skid/Flip. I origionally had this ball polished, but this ball would have too much of an entry angle into the pocket. So I dulled my vertigo and the ball would still go long innitally because the ball was reactive and it was drilled to go long and Flip once the ball found the dry the reactive just dug into the dry so much harder and sent the ball flying to the 1,3 alot harder but 2 feet earlier and kept the ball at the pocket. The ball never stops moving once it starts.

this ball is one the better balls i have ever owned second to nonly the triple extreme but it is a good one, and it has an awesome hit scatters the pins it don't care if it's brunswick max or amf amflite. I shot my second 300 on the maxs. The one thing I like this that it picks up a lot sooner than extreme with modified weight block and and the sfa cover. storm has a solid release with the vertigo it is a good ball. All my honor scores but one is with storm 2 300, a 299. the other is 11 in a row with the high rev.

I got my second Vertigo drilled to go skid flip, or long and backend a lot, This ball has like the maximum entry angle i have ever thrown. This ball hits so much harder too. I throw a lot of revs and this ball just increased my rev rate and just destroys the rack, ball hits a lot harder than my ultimate inferno did, this ball made the ultimate inferno look like nothing. Also the reactive just allows the ball to backend the most possible if you want a ball to hook early in the heads and be smooth get the trifecta. But one more thing my vertigo has already got me (4) 269s and at least (10) 700 this ball is so amazing i am getting a second one drilled the same way and putting it away.<scrip

I shot my two highest series of 789 and 795 within a few weeks of each other. Went all last year with no 700's but have four so far this season. I have also shot a 297,289 and 279 during this time span., with a stubborn 10 pin ending my streak on the latter two. The ball handles carrydown pretty well also. Storm's greatest ball ever. I will never buy any ball ever again unless it has a Storm logo on the ball. i am going to buy one or tow more of these ball and drill them with different layouts.

Great ball, I loved it for a while. It worked on everything for me, if I needed to change balls, it was just to an Storm Eraser Banshee. The ball absolutely killled sport shot which is what I bought it for. I would not of survived at Junior Gold Nationals without this ball, it really helped me stay in the hunt. When I was bowling with it, it always hit like a freight train, and then it started to hook less and less, and i started trying to make it hook and it didn't work. I tried resurfacing it, I even took it to the pro-shop to get it baked and I still couldn't get any kind of hook back to it.

Where do I start? First off out of the box the ball hooked off the lane and the after about 5 games it just started rolling out every single shot. The ball would not finish at all. After about 3 games the ball looked like it was a pearl it soaked up so much oil. Now I am selling it to someone who can get it to hook. I think it is junk and I am not the only one I have heard say that about this ball. Not only this ball but all of storm balls are pretty much junk balls to me. THROW A REAL BALL THROW EBONITE.

When i first got the ball I was very excited. I was not let down at all! On the order of durabilty; I have only had the ball for awhile now so I am hoping it will last. If you have not tried a "new" storm ball, I would highly suggest a ball out of the triple-X series. I own a XXX- Fator by storm and threw my first 800 series with it. To me the Triple X factor series should be a standard in the bowling industry. I do not recomend the "Vertigo" for for someone who does not throw a big hook. the reasoning behind this is that, strom makes a better smoother hooking balls for that. Otherwise, This ball has my officlal A+, because i have thrown 3- 700 series in a row.

Layed out 3X3 with weight hole on VAL 1" below mid-line. Ball picks up heavy roll and makes aggressive turn. Maintain light finger pressure and ball is smooth as silk and very easy to control on everthing from med to heavy. Crank up the revs and look out. No telling how many splinters will be left behind. Response had a short lived lifespan despite regular cleanings. Hopefully Vertigo will last much longer since its not a particle ball. I have noticed it tracks up easily and picks up belt marks worse than my other equipment. High maintenance balls are better than high maintenance .................. not going there! Another great ball when used for its intended purpose.

I've had this ball for six months now. Drilled with pin 3 3/8" from PAP, below finger line, with RAD slightly right of thumb, and a balance hole below my PAP ("off the PAP" in Storm's words). I've kept it in "box condition" (grey scotchbrite). This is my main "oil" ball...works well on anything from fresh mediums to heavier, longer oil patterns. Clears heads well for a dull ball, has a very strong read in the midlane, and finishes very strong through the pins. Will lose reaction once the oil starts to go. Seems to track out fairly quickly, as most dull balls seem to do for me. Also, will "shine up" with use, so coverstock maintenance is most important if you want to get the most out of this ball.

Fantastic product. I started with a power groove ball and bowled right-handed. Averaged a 150 and I only used it for a month. It was ok, but it was missing what I wanted....real hook. I switched and bowled left-handed (I am ambidextrous) and purchased the Vertigo. If you have an oil lane, then you are golden with this ball. I have trouble with dry lanes because it takes off and completely misses the pocket, but oil lanes sends it right where I want it. I have the typical old fashion delivery of letting it go on the second arrow and my finger tip ball allows me to hook naturally into the pocket unlike other people with massive hooks that go out to the gutter and come back. I have only been bowling for two months total now (1 month right-handed and 1 month left-handed) and with this ball I average 180 and bowled a 204 today which is my new high. Point is this ball will get the job done right!

The ball hits like it has Mack Trucks somewhere inside the ball. It really is amazing what this ball does. I have 2 of them I love it so much and one of them is even a BLEM ball it has a 5 oz. top weight to it. So it couldn't be drilled overly aggressive but as much as possible and it is amazing. Pins fly in all directions and it never really seems to loose hitting power, if it doesn't move a little i play up a little straighter and wam right back to doing it all over again. I have actually split pins because of this ball. if i miss the pocket it hits just as hard, never saw a ball do this like this one does. Plain and simple cut dry.

This is the first Storm ball I own, the first night I used this ball I made 7 strikes in a row. I was pleased!!! I have the pin drilled outside my ring finger, it demonstrates a dramatic and consistant back flip. This ball pick up the roll very quick. However, if you buy this ball, make sure you have a spare ball for your coner pin. In case you left a #10, it is virtually impossible to pick it with Vertigo. I have used this ball for 200+ games now, the ball still crushes and carries pins very effectively. In conclusion, I love this ball and I will definitely consider Storm first when I choose my next ball.

Good ball over all with tremendous hitting power, but where I bowl the lanes are flooded with oil so I can get the most out of my Vertigo. Works better when polished than dull. I don't really know what it would be like on really dry lanes because im bowling on flooded lanes all the time! Really, overall a good ball that will hook if you want it to but if you bowl it ot slow it will take off like a rocket, I bowled my centers highest 3 and 4 game series with it, STORM RULES,STORM RULES,STORM RULES,STORM RULES,STORM RULES,STORM RULES,STORM RULES
