This was my first hook ball. I had it drilled with a conventional grip, with inserts. I normally play it from iside the second arrow. It has a long roll with a fair amount of backend. If the lanes are oily, the ball seems to lose hitting power. Love the smell! This is a good ball for someone looking to begin playing with a little hook. I throw a stroker shot with low revs and let the ball do the rest... This ball favors a "down and in" type shot rather than a wide hook. If the lanes are VERY dry, this ball is killer, otherwise it is useless for me. I no longer own this ball. I now use a Purple Rhino.

Ball hits pretty hard when you throw it right. It's decent but doesn't to what I wanted it to. It is very speed sensitive. If it hits dry it still would tend to hook too much. Put it in the oil and have fun picking up your washout. It does have a fairly predicable roll and I can normally tell what its going to do as soon as I throw it. I haven't had very many ideal conditions to use it on...only when nothing else works. The coverstock is a little fragile and this ball has had its share of nicks and scratches on it.

This ball goes through the fronts nicely and doesn't seem to have unexpected reactions like some of my other equipment. This ball tends to hit high well without leaving splits but isn't going to kick out the 4 very often. Overall a great ball for it's price and the smell of the ball is great. Long and Strong all the way. It doesn't have the hook potential to be tossed out and forced to come back as it struggles to make up the boards in the 1 second of reaction time. The ball kills in the pocket and if it comes in light in the pocket. Have yet to leave a bucket on light oiled lanes

This ball is the best dry lane ball ever made. Can be used on a burnt out tournement shot or fresh house. This ball plays great up 3. The ball goes long and is very predictable. Balll can be speed sensitive. Can be for a spare ball on heavy oil. If using on synthetic, must put a lot of hand in the ball or soften the speed for it to react. Ball is underrate with the price, hits like a $200+ ball, not a $100 ball. This ball really reminds me with the hot rods but not as strong. If you have the problem of the ball overhooking, you need this ball.

Just used this ball for the first time in my league today. The first game I was using a Ebonite V2 Strong/R and a Doom Raw Hammer and I only shot a 160 something. So then in the second game I decided to change equipment cause of the way the lanes were and I threw the Tropical Storm the rest of the way and I shot two games in the 210's. So this ball is great if your looking for a ball to back up your other ones. I love the smell of the ball too, go with the black cherry. But like I said if your looking for a ball for light oil don't get this. It curves way more than it's supposed to. If I could get my money back and get a different ball, I would.

I have the Bue/Yellow storm ball. First let me say this is the best looking/ smelling ball on the market today! I drilled it for the mild length and mild backend. This ball hooks and hooks!!! On dry lanes this ball out hooks my Hawg Wild. But a good thing is that is ball is a great "down and in ball" and when it does over hook I just throw it harder and it's great. I bowled a 289 with this ball (and one other) The ball hits very nicely when your being agressive and keeping up your speed, but if you slow it down just a hair then watch out because you WILL leave a split. I call it my "split-ball". When I'm playing scotch doubles with my friends I use this ball just to make them mad! LOL anyways I'm usually a Hammer fan and still am, but Storm has defiently caught my eye (and nose) on this one. 8/10

This is a great value ball for those looking for length and a very strong backend reaction. Don't let the price fool you, you will not give up pin carry or performance with this ball. When the lanes dried up too much for more agressive reactive equipment such as a Wrath or a Vapor Zone, this ball was a great ball for me to go to when I needed more length. It has a very strong back end reaction and has better pin carry than many other balls at this same price point. Nice medium-dry to dry ball with strong back ends. The limitation for me with this ball is the same with most reactive balls on drier lane conditions, when the heads are fried this ball will grab much earlier than you would like to see. When it does make its move on extremely dry it's just too strong for the condition. Still better to find an older urethane 2 piece ball or Lane #1 XXXL for extremely dry conditions.<sc

Ball Specs: 15lbs. 3ozs., 4 inch pin; drilled with the pin 2 inches above the bridge and the CG kicked out about 40 degrees to the right; no weight hole needed; highly polished. This ball has been a godsend for me in my summer leagues; as the lanes dry out I simply grab my Tropical and go right on striking. I've been standing on 25 and throwing between the 2nd and 3rd arrow, letting the ball belly out to about 5-8, it goes about 40-45 feet and makes a nice smooth, sharp move back to the pocket. It has surprising hitting power and blows the pins into the pit very consistently. I do have to be careful not to swing it out to far, or it may not make it all the way back; but the Reactor coverstock is strong and this is usually not a problem. I can also straighten up, take a little hand out, and throw over the 3rd arrow letting the oil keep the ball on line until it hits the drier backends where it will hook and set very nicely into the pocket as well. All in all, I am very happy wi

A good down and in ball. Easy to control and is predictable. I have been most successful with it by playing straight up the gutter around the five board. With alot of carrydown I have been successful going straight down the third arrow with alot of forward roll. However I leave more ten pens this way. Another option is to stand to the left and swing it slightly over the middle arrow, with lots of side roll. However I've had problems with swinging it too far out and it just doesn't make it back. It hits pretty hard and drives through the pins with little deflection.

This ball is to dry lane bowling as Neil Peart is to drumming. When I decided to make the jump to reactive stuff, I was lucky to choose the Black/Red Black Cherry Tropical Storm. This ball always ends up being the consistent ball that I go to when I am playing on drier lanes (which is most of the time). For reference, I have a stroker release and I have the ball drilled for length. Even with my lower rev release, this ball hooks and hits as if it were powered by a demon. I suspect that it is. Also, it smells as if it were powered by tasty fruit. Conclusion: This ball is powered by a tasty fruit demon! Don't delay! Buy one now! They look pretty too.

Like I said this ball is awful for dry lanes and for that reason alone I am upset with storm for not knowing that this bowl was much more then they said it was. Some people think it's great to have a ball that hooks this much but for someone like me who can't find a ball that doesn't hook and was told this one wouldn't hook then it sucks. Don't get this ball for dry or meduim lanes. You will be dissappointed. There is one ball that doesn't hook and that's a power groove but like I said it actually hooks less then a spare ball.

The ball is amazing, I'm 2 for 2 in tournaments with that ball. I havent bowled a 300 with it yet but I will soon. The ball hooks a lot for the price. The best ball in that price range if you ask me. It hooks almost as much as my paradigm & fired up, I drilled it straight up, thumb drilled on mass bias so it's pretty weak. I bought the ball to replace my orange flame, it has a lot more back-end reaction but then again, my flame is like a million years old. remember to always bowl up a storm!! <

When I bought this ball, I was looking for something like a glorified spare ball--something I could throw when the lanes are fried. This ball was certainly not that. It is not a dry lane ball! It's medium-light to medium house shot at best. Hooks more than any of the Hot Rods and several of the Charges. Once you make the proper adjustments, this ball is amazing. It hits incredibly, and is very forgiving. If I miss outside, it hits the dry and comes back hard. If I miss inside, it slides on the oil with a more delayed backend to still hit the pocket.

Very nice ball overall great buy. I think storm has created a great ball that will suit most bowlers that are trying to find a cheap ball that will still hook and finish for any person. I hope that storm will relize that you dont have to sreate huge hooking balls just balls that finish and SMELL good. LOL I have 5 other storm balls and am loyal to this company I hope that one day I can manage to get a sponsor this company kicks ass. My name is Brian Cenci and this wil be a name that you will here again I bowl with dave Husted in a league he coaches me.

I have only thrown this ball 8 games now. I bowl a late league at house that usually has medium to light oil. Lately it has been bone dry. So, I did some research and picked this ball, it matches up well to my game. I ordered a 3-4" pin so I could do a length drilling. I layed it out with the pin above and between my fingers about 1 1/2 inches (up), and the cg is only kicked out about 1/2 inch. This ball hits awesome. If I can keep my speed constant I can play over 10 out to about 3, with no worries about it coming back, on a bad night I have to play over 15 out to 5, but it still comes back, NICE. I would definately say storm has another winner here at an incredibly low price if you consider the perfomance you get out of the ball. I will post more as I throw this ball more. But for now I will say anyone from a beginner to expert could throw this ball and be happy.

Good ball over all with tremendous hitting power, Works better when polished than dull. It is a brillant ball for the SUPER DRY condition because it is so clean smooth on the lane, overall a good ball that will hook if you want it to but use it wisly as it my not be the ball that all ways works. THIS BALL IS NOT THE BEST BALL IVE EVER HAD BUT ALSO ITS NOT THE WORST. THE SMELL OF THE BALL IS GOOD AND THE COLOR OF THE BALL IS ALSO GOOD. BUT THE REACTION I GET OUT OF THE BALL SUCKS. I DONT KNOW IF ITS THE LAY OUT I HAVE ON THE BALL OR IF THE BALL IT SELF IS DEFECTIVE. BUT THE REASON I BOUGHT THE BALL WAS TO FILL IN THE GAP BETWEEN MY HOT ROD AND MY BIG HIT. BUT IM GOING TO GIVE IT ALITTLE MORE TIME BEFORE I COMPLEATLY DISOWN THE BALL. I WILL PUT ANOTHER REVIEW ON IN A FEW WEEKS AFTER I THROW IT ALITTLE LONGER.

This ball had about a 2" pin. I drilled it with the CG in palm and the pin 3 3/4" from my PAP which put the pin right next to my ring finger. On the burned up house condition I shot on, the ball was very strong on the backend of the lane. Mainly due to the high flare drilling I gave it. However, it was still very easy to get through the heads. Although the backend was strong it still couldn't be considered flippy. I think a tamer drill would have worked wonders on this ball for the TOAST! I also tried this on a 38ft sport pattern. This ball shined on this shorter sport condition. I could play that track area without effort which made my line to the pocket much more direct than the other's who were playing and in turn I had much less over/under. "Straighter is Greater". Very smooth and very predictable on this pattern. I would definately recommend this ball if you are looking for a medium to light pattern ball that will still hit strong and give you a little predict

If you are looking for a ball to use on medium to light oil patterns or a shot that has broken down this is a great ball to add to your arsenal. I stuck the pin above my fingers right on the center line along with the cg (the cg is around the center of my grip) to get the ball to go a bit longer but still have a smooth reaction to the pocket. There are 3 different colors to choose from in the tropical line I ordered the green/yellow one which smells like lemon-lime I have to say it smells kind of like mountain dew. Needless to say it is strong but smells good.
