This is a 14 pound ball with a starting topweight of 2.66 ounces and a half an inch pin. I don't use my thumb when I bowl. I drilled this ball without a thumb hole. The cg is just right of the ring finger and the pin is just right of the cg. The fingers are drilled very deep so that there is less than an ounce of top or side weight after drilling. I put a lot of revolutions on the ball. I have problems when the backends and outside boards are hooking a lot. When there is too much friction I have a tendency to hit high too often. This ball fixes that problem. I just send the ball out too the 5 board and watch it arc into the 1/3 pocket. Carry is great!!! The only things I leave on pocket shots are nine pins. I call that hit!! I only leave corners if I throw the ball way too fast, but that's a lot better than the 2-10 I often leave on that shot. This ball just builds so much confidence. It isn't for oil, but is my first choice on most house shots. This ball makes me want to go out and

this ball is very cool to look at when its rollin down the lanes. it hits gard and is somewhat forgiving. it cuts through the backends really well. when the lanes are bonedry i have to play the tird arrow but i usually use the second arrow. with this ball i dont remember the last time i bowled under a 190 on medium to light oil lanes. only problem i have with it is that i could only get the seven pins with this ball about 60% of the time because of my high revs. but that problem will be solved by friday since im gonna get a plastic ball soon.<s

I needed a ball to replace my Track Triton Heat (one of my favorite balls) and the Roto Grip Sonic X works awsome on dry conditions. It's like a truck!! And the price was very low. A super deal. I have spend $50-$75 more for balls than didn't work as good as the Sonic. The 2nd set I throw this ball, I had the front 7 and I got a little pumped up and left a swishing 7-10. That's the only problem I have had with this ball. It tends to go long sometimes. I have had 6-7 Roto Grip balls and they all work well.

My Sonic X Pearl weighs in at 16 pounds, has a 3" pin out distance, and is drilled pin over my ring finger with the CG kicked out about an inch from there. This ball was drilled to start a little later than my Sonic X Solid does. It is a great compliment to it when I need a little more punch on the backend. Either way it still holds the same control, predicatbility, smooth as silk roll down the lane. Once the Sonic X Pearl gets to the pocket the hit and carry is outstanding. I generally play outside of ten with either ball, mostly straight up the boards, but a small belly if need be. <sc

The people at the pro-shop warned me about the length on this ball but I still insisted on purchasing it. Needed one that would compliment my 'over-active' balls. I guess I got what I wanted and even found it easy dealing with my spare shooting. This ball is VERY forgiving but it also has a bit of a problem hitting the 10 pin. Being a Columbia 100 'stock-er', this happens to be my first RotoGrip ball. Glad I bought it. Advisable to all newbie bowlers who need to start with a 'bowler-friendly' ball. Congratulations RotoGrip. I'll be looking forward to your other products.

Great ball for dryer conditions. i'm a slight cranker with good speed and revs, and needed to find some dry to get a good look. Great Value. Roto Grip has a good product here. If you buy it to use on dryer conditions, you wont be dissapointed. Used it on wood lanes, after a league had already bowled there set. was able to stand with left foot 7 left of center, have the ball at 12 at the arrows, out to about 5 and crush the pocket. exceptional great hit, and carry was awesome. I suggest keeping it away from oil, you'll leave alot of soft 10's, or buckets, if it finds to much oil.

Got the Sonic X for when then lanes were either really dry or broken down. I drilled it with the pin above ring, CG stacked under middle finger. I wanted the ball to go long and arc hard; exactly what this ball does! I play this ball mostly with a down and in shot. Stand 15, throw to 10, breakpoint around 8 board and let the ball arc in. This has to be one of the smoothest balls I have thrown. Very clean through the heads and midlane, just making a very hard arc on the backend. Ball has fantastic carry, just crushes the pocket on flush and light hits, occasional 10 pin (won't ball won't?). Skids a little too far to play in the oil. It's just a fantastic ball, another top notch product from Roto Grip.

Just picked up this ball the other day when I was having all of my other equipment re-fitted. Good thing too. Went out on a shot where there was extremely heavy oil in the front (for wood anyway) and almost none in the back end. I was having trouble getting my Freak Out and Executioner to move in this soup so I tried going up the side with the Sonic X. Excellent choice. It rode very consistently up the first arrow and made a nice move when it hit the dry area of the lane. It didn't over react at all, nice smooth reaction for such a cheap ball. Only problem was when it hit the pocket like a truck. With the angle I was throwing it left the ten pin quite a bit (my fault for not adjusting). Still, a great ball for a great price.

Roto-Grip kept the consumer in mind for this ball. They made it a first class product and kept the price down for all. The price on this ball could be a premium because it hits like a you spent alot more than you did. After the lanes goes from heavy oil to the desert you can always count on this ball to get you through the heads and still have plenty on the back ends to carry them little white pins. This ball works well at tournaments when you bowl more that 6 games on the same oil. It also preforms well on fresh oil after they stripped the back ends. You will not get that drastic sharp turn. Roto-Grip is not only a player in todays market they are a major player. Great job from Hank Bommershine the Roto-Grip President.

15# 3" pin Pin over ring finger Drilled Pin 6" from PAP Mass bias just to right of thumb The ball does great in light oil conditions. Fried heads.....no problem. Short oil.......no problem. The ball really gets great length and hits very hard. I was able to carry shots that my Storm Flame Reactive never carried. With a few adjustments, I was able to bowl with the SonicX on a medium condition as well. It also makes a great spare ball. This is my second Roto-Grip ball and I am sure I will be adding more later on. Thanks Roto-Grip for a great line of bowling balls.

This ball is crazed. Bowled in a stupid tournament with this ball right after drilled. shot 696 in tourney. The ball can be used from dry - med oil lanes. It has a smooth, controled backend. The control is unbelievble. Can hit a bit harder though. Leaves a lot of 10s. Nice roll. Ball can go straight if not reved, can smash the pins with U-Turn backend if reved up. ball will be used very little for me since my house almost never get dried. but the ball is worth it. need oil-free lanes to bowl on. Btw, this is one of the ugliest balls ive seen.<

This is my first stab at Roto Grip. What really attracted me was the price. That, and I wanted a ball that I could play the outside line with. The ball is laid out with the pin above the ring finger and the CG in the center of the grip. This layout let me play off the ditch (a line I'm not comfortable with) and the ball made a nice move to the pocket. It didn't over-react. I shot a modest 656 first time with it. There's nothing I own that I can play that far outside with, until now. If I made a mistake in the oil, forget it. It's also a good spare ball. If you're looking for something that will give you control in drier conditions without spending a lot, you might want to look at the Sonic X. Rating - 9 out of 10.

This is my first pearlized ball. Badly needed one since my other ball goes wild whenever the lanes dried up. This ball is everything i expected it to be. It didn't go wild and didn't prove to be as lame as other pearlized balls. I got a pin in ball, so I was having a hard time thinking how i'm suppose to have it drilled. This is my first Roto-Grip ball. Tried going out of my usual Columbia balls. I would say i would consider looking at the roto-grip line up everytime I would be looking for a new ball.
