Roto Grip RetroRoto Blue Pearl Bowling Ball

The only thing Retro about it is the name and the look. This is a brand new weight block and shell design. It is designed to give you good length with strong continuous backend, and extreme hitting power.

This was a great tournament ball. I never seemed to find an oil pattern in league that suited this ball for me. On the other hand when I brought it out on tournament patterns it won me some serious money. I also found that it was a great ball on the PBA patterns when I used it in a PBA experience league. This ball would get through the heads even when they were burned up and always seemed to flip hard on the backend even with carry down. It really seemed to read the best when the fronts were toasted and the backends had some carrydown. The carry was best from the 3rd and 4th arrows as the entry angle was too steep from the up the boards or a track shot.

Not a bad ball. The carry was above average but not as big as I was lead to beleive (I still like it though). I keep hearing and reading how hard this ball hits, but I didn't see that. It carried the corner pins very well though. I deffinately will keep this one. It's good to see that Roto Grip still makes good equipment (I haven't used any Roto Grip in a long time). I should add that the first time I tried this ball I also brought along a Columbia Action Max. The Retro Hooked 3 more boards than the Action Max (using the same line)

Had this ball when It first came out. Remarkable carry. Used at the ABC in Knoxville on Storms Sport Challenge. Made about $900 in singles and doubles. Came home to the house shot same results. Crushing the pins. Got bored with the ball because of to much equipment in my closet and confussion about which ball to bring to league play so I gave it away. Struggling a little on Wed nite, then ask my friend did he redrill the ball. No, still in his locker. Got my baby back after 8 months and shot 710. Lets just say he's not getting it back. Now is miss my Retro Red. Keith you dummy! Oh well, go RotoGrip...

Got this gem for like $50 from a fellow member at ballreviews.com. Perfect span for me as well, so I didn't bother getting it redrilled. Ball is drilled Pin over bridge, CG swung right slightly. 2 inch pin. Took it out on a Normal oiled shot and I just couldn't believe the skid-flip of this ball. It was absolutely phenominal. I was standing at 30, threw this ball all the way out to 3. Normally this type of shot would have the ball either go right into the gutter or move the slightest bit and take out either the ten pin or the 6-9-10. This ball came all the way back and almost missed the head pin! I couldn't believe my eyes. To date I've put maybe 10 games on it so far, high score of 300 on the 4th game and low game of 195. I can put it best like this. Everyone who knows me and watches me bowl all want me to find them one of this ball so they can use it. That must mean that it's a great ball. ;)

Specs: 16lbs, 1-inch pin drilled with the pin below the ring finger and the Cg in palm. I drilled this ball up about 4 months ago hopeing to use it for drier conditions, WRONG, not the way I drilled it at least. What I got instead was a very good league and short pattern sport shot ball. On a 39-foot medium oil house shot with clean backends the Retro is very clean through the heads has very good length then makes a very strong but controllable backend move to the pocket. But this is defiantly not a ball for heavy oil or carrydown. The move it makes isn't quite a snap nor a arc but more of a hockey stick shape move. And as long as you release it correcly the carry is great. As soon as has you start playing the inside angle the carry does start to deminish but youll live. With a few more coats of polish the its can easliy be used for drier conditons. All in all this is great ball for everything from dry to medium conditions as long as you has good backends. A really gr

I have only bowled a few games with this ball so far, but it hits hard and allows me to play more than one line with the same results. The ball is very forgiving. It came back and smashed the pocket when I got it a little wide and held the line if I pulled it a little. This is my first Roto-Grip ball, but it will not be my last. 15# 2" pin Pin under middle finger with mass bias just to the right of thumb Drilled with pin 5" from PAP I would advise anyone who is thinking about purchasing a Roto-Grip ball to do so. I have also purchased a SonicX and post a review of it as well<scri

A true skid flip ball. All the hook is in the back end producing tremendous carry. Goes deeper than the Silver Streak Pearl but does not hook as much as the Silver Streak Pearl - then again, it was not designed to be a super hooker. Hooks late and HITS. Reminscient of the Storm Bolt, Brunswick Deep Danger Zone (DZ2) and the Firestorm. If you are like many who once owned and loved one or more of these balls and regret not having one now, this ball may be for you. Not over sensitive to over/under conditions, speed changes or hand position. In a word, forgiving. With little adjustments, a ball you can use all night long. There are balls that hook more, there are balls with a bigger back end (very few), there are balls that go deeper (very few again), but not many with this combination - length, backend and HIT!

I would have loved to be aggressive with this one. This ball is by far so much better than the Messengers and other similar balls. I am partial to the Storm/RG covers and this ball surprised me with its backend move. Its still quite controllable for me but on a wet shot with dry backends I don't know a ball that would come close to this one. Maybe the X Factor but its still a different look on the backs. The X does hit harder but the Blue Retro is an awesome ball at a great price. Very versatile and can be used by any style.

I didn't buy this ball but my friend bought it and he said it was awesome. My friend is right handed and I'm left handed so it was kinda weird that a right handed ball would be so great for me.But to get on with it, I was having trouble one night during league so I went up to him and asked to try his Retro Roto. I threw it for about 2 games and I loved the ball. This ball gave me incredable hook and incredable length for a right handed ball. I loved it! It didn't leave very many seven pins like most balls that go over 45 feet and it didn't over react like most heavy hookers. It was great. I only threw this ball for two nights but I shot very high. Eventhough I started out bad on one of the nights I still ended up with 680 and the second night I shot 739. I have shot seven hundred many times before but I never was so amazed in my life about a bowling ball. GREAT BALL!!!

After watching one of my friends throwing the Fuel, I decided to try on of these Roto Grip balls. I got the blue retro expecting to be more of a light oil ball, but I have never had a ball match up with so many different lane coniditions. The ball gets through the heads nice, hell this ball gets through th mid part of the lane nice and just turns, more backend then i could have ever imagined. I have thrown this ball on everything from a very light shot to a 40 foot shot lots of carrydown. Little adjustments and this ball fine. And the carry is excellent. Weather your going up the boards or 15 to 5. The only time the ball suffers is when you are forced to play deep inside. Or when there is really clean backends it tends to drive too drive hard to the pocket and leave a lot of solid 8 pins. I hope this helps a little in makeing your next choice.

Can't go wrong on this one! Enjoy it for yourself... I drill Jason Williams Equipment and I have alot of experience with Roto Grip. I have been an operator of a shop for 8 years and this is the first time i have came across a ball that will match up to soo many lane conditions. I would put it up against most of the better solids for performance and hookability in the backend. I couldnt believe that it's all Reactive and no particle at all. Great peice of equipment. Im glad most of my competition doesnt know about this ball =)

Hank, at Dyno-Thane was nice enough to send us a Blue Pearl Retro. I was thinking this was going to be a calm reactive ball for Medium-Oil with a little punch in the pocket. Well, I was wrong. This ball brings back memories of the old Purple X-Cailbur. This ball gets through the heads super clean and when it gets to the breakpoint it takes off. This ball was amazing to watch. This ball was doing left turns at the breakpoint. I gave this ball a 7, because it does need dry backends to get the ball back to the pocket. If you don't turn the ball a lot, you will be able to go more direct with this ball, and get good pop in the backend. If you have any questions, please email me at Bill@buddiesproshop.com Thanks Bill <sc
