Review The Sigma Hybrid was design with the award winning technology of the best ball of the year, the Sigma Tour. The new Sigma Hybrid brings back the sigma core; however the new Atomix Hybrid Reactive Coverstock gives that added bonus for the bowler to use this bowling ball on heavier oil conditions. The hybrid coverstock also makes the ball read earlier, have a more smoother ball motion, and still has that pop in the backend to kick out the corners. High rev players will love this ball because the ball reads so well on fresh and as the heads get beat of, the smoother ball motion with the coverstock will all you to move in and still keep that pop to kick out the corners. For the non high rev bowlers, this is the perfect ball for you because the Sigma Hybrid will give you length and nice strength and pop to knock down all ten pins. INNER CORE: Sigma™ COVERSTOCK: Atomix™ Hybrid Reactive FINISH: 1000 Wet Sand 15# SPECS: RG: 2.47, DIFF: .047 Comments: After drilling the Sigma Hybrid, I put 2 mins of polish and went to the lanes. I have to say my favorite ball last year and I thought nothing is going to top this, until now. The first few times I threw this ball I had to stop and catch my breath. I was blown away how well the ball looked, read the lanes, and crushing the pocket. On fresh, the Sigma Hybrid read the lane well, turned the corner hard and hit like a truck. I have never seen a bowl drive so hard through the pocket. This ball will dominate the fresh and as the heads get beaten up, the player can move left for a right hander or right for a left hander and it will still have that pop you need to kick out the corner. I recommend this ball for all bowlers and styles John Robertson Motiv Staff Member

This is by far the best big ball I have thrown. I have done all types of pins from 3 and a half inches all the way to 6 inches and this ball has been a great tool with every layout I have used I was able to use it on all medium patters and longer patterns. if you are a person who wants to go up the lane or some one who likes to swing the lane this ball is a fit for you. My absolute favorite part about this ball is the versitility it has with responding to surface adjustments. I have had them really dull and shiney and they are alway predictable and do exactly what I expected.

The Bowler: Ball speed = 17 Rev Rate = 400 PAP = 5 ¾, 3/8 up The Ball: Motiv Sigma Hybrid Surface = 1000 light polish The Sigma Hybrid is the strongest symmetric ball ever produced in the Motiv line, rating just under my Raptor P7 in overall hook. The biggest difference from the Raptor to the Sigma hybrid is the hook shape. The Raptor has more of a pronounced asymmetric shape (sharper breakpoint) and the hybrid is smoother but super strong off friction. I’ve found the Hybrid to shine on medium to long flat sport patterns, but for me it also shines on normal house shots. Both types of patterns have a smooth midlane but tones of continuation on the backend. If you loved the Sigma Tour you’ll love the Hybrid for more oil. I would also recommend this ball for strokers looking for the same sigma tour reaction that the tweeners have. Personally I’ve been using this ball more than any other at this point due to the ball control and fantastic power. In closing the sigma hybrid has a strong controlled reaction for medium heavy oil with the award winning sigma tour reaction. Ball Specs: Motiv Sigma Hybrid Reactive Hybrid 1000 Wet Sand Symmetric Core Layout 6x4.25x75 P2 Hole Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 5 Over 3/4 Up Rev Rate 275. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed off hand 18 Review: The amount of hook this ball provides really surprised me. It was just under my Raptor P7. The Sigma Hybrid is a very strong arc type ball where the P7 has much more of a angular backend. This ball will be great on flatter shots, tournament shots or sport shots where control is key. I don't think this will be my first choice on a THS. I however tested this ball on our typical house shot (THS) and even though I would have had a better look with a Sigma Tour or Thrash the Sigma Hybrid did work well. It carried some light hits that I thought would be a challenge. I used the Sigma Hybrid with the box surface and later with 2000 wet sand then Polish. (I used the box finish for the video)The polish gave me a few more feet but I did not give up any control. The ball maintained its arching motion. The polish will help to get the weak ten out if it burns too early at box finish. Summary: Alot of hook with control. This is a must have for the tournament bowler who bowls on flat, oily lanes. The more I bowled with the Sigma Hybrid the more I liked it. Polishes well but maintains the same motion, just later. This ball may have the same core as the Sigma Tour but is a completely different animal. An incredibly compliment to the sigma tour! Find myself always starting out with this ball and then switching to the tour once this ball burns up energy too soon and isn't going through the pins the right way for me. Overall this is a great fresh ball for medium to oily lanes and is incredibly easy to read the lane pattern with the sigma hybrid. The box finish of 1000 grit seems like it may be too strong for this ball but it actually just allows the low rg sigma core to be very smooth and readable for most any kind of player.

The new Diablo Red and Charcoal Pearl Sigma Hybrid is built on award winning technology from the Sigma Tour, which won 1st place as the Most Versatile Ball of 2011 in the BTM Reader's Choice Awards. While the Hybrid edition does feature the same proven core design, the cover technology and box finish provide a different zone of performance. Designed for medium-heavy oil, the Sigma Hybrid reads earlier and provides a smoother ball motion. League bowlers that are rev-challenged or speed dominant will appreciate the strength of the Sigma Hybrid on a fresh house shot. Tournament bowlers will use it on medium-heavy volume sport patterns to destroy the rack. INNER CORE: Sigma™ COVERSTOCK: Atomix™ Hybrid Reactive FINISH: 1000 Wet Sand 15# SPECS: RG: 2.47, DIFF: .047 The Motiv Sigma Hybrid picks up right where the Sigma Tour left off, Another winner in this award winning line! For me the Sigma Hybrid is a stronger, more mid-laney ball than it's predecessor but has that same GREAT continuation through the pins that the Sigma Tour had. The main thing I look for in a stronger ball is it's ability to carry the corners when playing extreme angles and boy this ball didn't disappoint! I could get into 5th arrow easily on Kegel's Autobahn pattern and still get the ball through the fronts store energy and corner downlane! The Sigma Hybrid really does exactly what it's advertised to do,The hybrid shell gets through the fronts with ease but the surface picks up in the midlane and has a very smooth heavy roll to the pocket and continues through the pins perfectly. This is a great compliment to that of the Sigma Tour! Michael Cousins Motiv/Vise Staff www.motivbowling.com www.viseinserts.com

Bowler Stats-Ball Speed 17 MPH Rev Rate-App 275 Axis of Rotation-30 to 60 degrees Axis Tilt 22 degrees Right Handed The Motive Sigma Tour Hybrid is designed for heavy or medium oil patterns. The ball performs as advertised. It's Hybrid coverstock pushes through the heads with ease as on fresh shots with high or medium volume of oil in the heads, revs up later in the midlanes, especially compared to the Sigma Tour and make a very strong quick move to the pocket. The change in direction is sharper the the Sigma Tour but not as snappy as the Raptor Attack. The Symmetrical Tour Hybrid reads the lane later then the Raptor or either of the Cruels. The Sigma Hybrid Tour can cover an equal number of boards as any of the Motiv Symmetrical equipment if there is sufficient dry area, however it may skid through carrydown. For me, this ball plays much better from the track area and deeper as it saves plenty of hitting power for the drive to the pocket. I have successfully used the Tour Hybrid playing inside, at times deep inside, and swinging the ball to the dry as well as playing the track. The Sigma Tour Hybrid Core provides an easy to read look on the lane that should easily allow a bowler to know when it's time to put this one up and ball down or change the shape of the roll, that will be will the ball starts picking up earlier in the midlane and losing hitting power at the pins. As long as there is sufficient oil in the heads and the mids and ample dry down lane the Tour Hybrid is an excellent choice. The Sigma Tour Hybrid, as with all of the recent Motiv releases, does not seem to have a surface preference as it reacted well on all surfaces on which I have used it. The surface of the Hybrid takes and holds changes to surface of the ball very well. The ball also holds up very well to repeated use. If you use this ball as designed on medium length and/or heavier oil patterns, it is a very effective ball. The Sigma Tour Hybrid gives Motiv a piece of equipment for Motiv who are looking for that smooth Motiv symmetrical read of the lane that occurs a little later.. I'm very colorblind but I've heard from multiple bowlers that the ball is very pleasing to the eye and will give it good shelf appeal. I use my Sigma Tour as my Benchmark ball but when I need a little more "POP" in the back and the Raptor is too strong this is the PERFECT fit to challenge the lanes. This ball comes out of the box at 1000 wet sand but you may need to change the cover to match up to your bowling style other than that this ball is as good as it looks going down the lanes. http://www.bowlingthismonth.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=68 Brian Hirsch Motiv & Turbo Staff Motivbowling.com

If you are looking for a compliment to the very versatile Sigma Tour, then the Sigma Hybrid gives you just that. The Sigma Hybrid is perfectly designed for those medium to heavy oil patterns. It is a perfect complement to the Sigma Tour. I would say this ball covers 4 to 5 boards more than the Sigma Tour. I have not used it on long patterns yet, but I was able to use it on a heavy-volumed Brunswick house shot. I quickly noted how deep I was having to play vs. the Sigma Tour. I can’t wait to see the Sigma on LONG oil. I drilled this ball for my ‘fresh/long’ patterns. The numbers on this ball for me are 70 x 60 x 2 5/8”. The Sigma Tour and Sigma Hybrid make a GREAT 1-2 punch for medium/heavy conditions. For more information, please visit www.motivbowling.com. Alan Grobmeier MOTIV Staff

If you are looking for a compliment to the very versatile Sigma Tour, then the Sigma Hybrid gives you just that. The Sigma Hybrid, with the box finish at 1000, will give you an early grab on the lanes for those medium to heavy oil patterns and still provide the continuation and predictability of the Sigma Tour. I would say this ball covers an additional 4 to 5 boards over the Sigma Tour. We layed out the 2012 Nationals Pattern on Generation 1 ProAnvil, which is a very hard surface with not a lot of friction. I was able to use this ball up the outside part of the lane, breakpoint between 2-3 board. Keep in mind, I throw the ball 17-18 MPH on average. When the lanes broke down, I was also able to move inside, and throw over 17 board and have my breakpoint be around 8 board. I drilled this in a stacked leverage position, with the pin 3.5 inches from the PAP. This is the same as my Sigma Tour. This is a fantastic 1-2 punch. The Sigma Hybrid has a brand new coverstock wrapped around the versatile core used in the Sigma Tour. I drilled mine 60* x 5 1/2” x 40* which is one of my favorite layouts. At the box finish, this ball begins it’s move about 2 or 3 feet sooner than the original Sigma, and hooks about 3 or 4 more boards total for me. This ball has a real nice, even arcing motion. On a house shot, I’m able to play further inside (both with my feet and target) with the Sigma Hybrid…which allows for a more consistent reaction. When I pull the ball a little inside of target, I find that the coverstock on this ball holds the pocket really well, without diving through the nose. Here is a link of me bowling with my Sigma Hybrid on my bowling center’s house shot, the Kegel Main Street Pattern. In this video, I also roll a Sigma Tour, for comparison purposes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvQhknr-4Rg I have also have had the opportunity to use this ball on a couple of heavy oil sport patters… The even arcing motion is just the ticket to keeping the ball in play in a lower scoring environment. Sigma Hybrid – 25 x 5 ¼ x 50 With the amount of success the Sigma Tour has had there was bound to be another Sigma released. The Sigma Tour and New Sigma Hybrid share the same versatile Sigma core, but the Sigma Hybrid reveals the New Atomix Hybrid coverstock. The Sigma Hybrid has a 1000 wet sanded finish and out of the box this ball is best suited for heavy to medium conditions. It is as angular as a ball can probably get with as much surface as it has out of the box. Comparing the Sigma Tour and Sigma Hybrid with their different out of box finishes, the Hybrid forced me about 4 boards deeper on the lane and still provided great entry angles. The Sigma Hybrid also ignored the carrydown, while the Sigma Tour got noticeably weaker on the same condition. My video session with the Sigma Hybrid was on Kegel’s Easy Street with a synthetic surface. Playing that deep, with that much surface I naturally see a lot of corner pins (Because I am more up the back of the ball), this was not the case with the Sigma Hybrid. For as much continuation as the Sigma Tour provides I can’t believe that the Hybrid allows for even more continuation! You can see my video here: http://www.youtube.com/user/MOTIVmags?feature=mhee This again will be a benchmark ball for many people. It is strong enough to throw on the fresh, and when polished it is clean enough for lighter or broken down conditions. If you missed out on drilling a Sigma Tour or if you are looking for a ball that is similar in shape as the Sigma Tour but maybe need more overall hook order yourself a Sigma Hybrid. I decided to drill mine with a RICO layout. I knew with the current surface of 1000 wet sand that this ball would want to read the lane early so I drilled mine RICO to give me a smooth but strong continuous motion on heavy volume sport shots. I was hoping to get a similar reaction to what I have with my Raptor but a tad stronger and that is exactly what I got. The Sigma Hybrid gives me a slightly stronger backend motion (even with the RICO layout) and 2 to 4 more boards of overall hook compared to my Raptor. This is a great piece on sport patterns when you need to keep your line and angle tighter without the worry of the ball overreacting when it hits the friction. As with every MOTIV piece I have thrown now the carry is unbelievable! I also like to use mine on the house shot once the transition happens and I need to move inside as I see superior carry with the Sigma Hybrid. Another gem from MOTIV!
