Paranoia

The Paranoia™ is the next step in the MOTIV evolution, featuring a brand new core and cover system for medium oil. It provides a strong and consistent motion down lane with incredible angle. Where many angular pearl bowling balls are difficult to control, the Paranoia™ blends the wet/dry, while still retaining enough energy to provide angle down lane and that signature MOTIV continuation through the pins. The NEW Agitator Pearl Reactive cover is engineered for the bowler who wants angle and power. It enables the Paranoia to start its initial move a touch earlier, which gives the bowler confidence to be aggressive with each shot. Agitator™ cover technology is so aggressive that we had to put a 5500 Grit LSP finish on it to get it down the lane. The NEW Oblivion™ core brings new specifications to the MOTIV line (2.53/.047 in 15#) along with an incredible new shape! The Oblivion™ is a dual density monster with a cutting edge design that will provide bowlers with an incredible change of direction down lane. There are physics at work here that go way beyond RG and differential! The Purple Paranoia will compliment many balls in the MOTIV product line. It will provide more total hook than the Venom Shock and Octane Burn while still providing more angle down lane. The Paranoia will also give more length and angle than the Forza or the Forza Redline without sacrificing over all hook.

Rev Rate:420 Axis Tilt:20 Axis Rotation: 45 Ball Speed:17 PAP Measurements: 4 1/8 Description: Paranoia (noun): The next step in Motiv weaponry that provides a strong and dependable motion down lane with incredible continuation through the pins, underneath the Agitator Pearl Reactive coverstock is the Oblivion core. The Paranoia will give you more length and angle than your Forza and Forza Redline without sacrificing desired hook. Out of box surface: 5500 Grit LSP Layout: 60/4/30 Ball Reaction: The Paranoia isn’t something that snatches with ruthless aggression upon encountering friction but it more so provides a controlled angular ball motion, it is clean like the Octane but it is bigger in terms of overall hook than the Octane. This Paranoia will be a fantastic fit for any arsenal especially for those who were/are fond of the primal rage. It will fit perfectly underneath it. Comparisons Octane: The length between the two is relatively the same however the Paranoia’s ball motion starts sooner than the Octane, the overall ball motion was sharper as well. The Paranoia isn’t as sensitive as the Octane was to wet/dry conditions as it blends it out rather well, in terms of backend strength the Octane is bigger. I was a fan of the Octane because of how far it traveled down the lane before it made its move on the backend, having the quadfire core upon encountering friction I would get a strong arc roll and not a snap. The Paranoia respectively travels down lane as well but will indeed snap off of the pattern harder than the Octane, from an angularity standpoint the Paranoia provides me with a reaction the Octane could not. Octane Burn: In terms of length the Paranoia is longer and in terms of backend a shade underneath the Octane Burn, they are both evenly matched when it comes to overall hook. The difference that I found in throwing them both is the shape they provide and how sensitive they are when encountering friction; both excel in the friction providing different reactions. The Octane Burn in the friction provides a very smooth and even roll ball motion in the friction; it doesn’t naturally grab the friction upon encountering it. The Paranoia is smooth is and angular, its ball motion is rather sharp when encountering friction allowing you to bounce it off of it if you choose to. Recovery is not an issue with either of them it just comes down to what type of reaction the bowler would prefer to see on the desired pattern. Forza Redline: The Redline overall is bigger than the Paranoia in terms of overall hook and is a shade underneath it when it comes to overall backend motion, length wise the Paranoia is longer than the Redline. I’m pleased with the Redline for the reaction it provides me with and that is a controlled hook motion, the Redline isn’t a ball I would use to corner the lanes with as it isn’t angular enough as the Paranoia. The ball motion the Redline provides is not as sharp as the Paranoia, as the friction increases I can gravitate further right or left and it will corner where I need it to at the right time. Summary: Overall I am pleased with this release and I feel it is a perfect replacement to the Octane. No matter how steep the angle I choose to play time after time the Paranoia did not disappoint me, I have no qualms about the continuation as it convincingly drives the pins back. As I mentioned earlier if you were a fan of the Primal Rage and you’re looking for something to go underneath it I encourage you to take a look at the Paranoia, you won’t be disappointed in doing so. Because the Paranoia is not as sensitive as the Octane it will allow you to use it on a variety of patterns with the exception being heavy oil, I wouldn’t suggest using it for heavy oil purposes. I appreciate the controlled angularity it provides me with as it allows me to play steeper angles than I normally would without risking carry, for once in my life I am glad that I allowed Paranoia to consume me. May it consume you as well. Your game will thank you for it. K.C.White II Motiv Staff

Goodness gracious this ball is something else! This ball is clean through the fronts with a predictable backend reaction. The paranoia is a ball that will blend out the pattern great. I have noticed when I miss right it recovers and still goes through the pins very well. Also when I miss left it still picks up and continues through the pins! If you are looking for a ball that has a lot of forgiveness and let's you get away with some miss left and right AND still knock all 10 pins down, this is a great ball. For me the paranoia is a step under the primal rage, but has more forgiveness than the rage does. It is a ball that I trust after the initial transition on the lanes and you have a little bit to throw at. On a house shot I feel that I can use it almost all the time. You know, leading up to writing this review, I’ve felt a bit on edge and nervous. It just feels like something may happen to me if I don’t present a good review… I guess you can call me a bit…. Paranoid… (Sorry I just couldn’t help myself). Enough with the chit-chat, the new piece from MOTIV will definitely cause your opponents to feel uneasy and less confident once you place this ball on the rack. The name says it all, the Paranoia. We aren’t just introduced to a new cover stock, but a whole new core to go along with it in the Oblivion core. Wrapped around the Oblivion, we find the new Agitator Pearl Reactive cover, which provides an angular ball motion that is to be expected with a pearl cover but MOTIV never settles for providing what is to be ‘expected’. The beauty of this cover stock, it has the ability to blend wet/dry lane conditions while still offering the MOTIV continuation with angle down lane. The Paranoia lends itself to be an excellent complement to many of the MOTIV pieces that may already be in your bag. Whether you are looking for more hook than you’re Venom Shock but with more down lane angle or you many need more length than that Redline without surrendering hook potential, the Paranoia can provide the answer to both situations. What I love about the Paranoia is that down lane motion. Although it is more angular, its transition through the mid-lane is very clean. In the time I have been throwing this piece, I have rarely felt that it would not finish and finish hard when reaching the pocket unless it was an error on my part. Just yesterday evening in league, I was throwing a Revolt Vengeance the first 2 games of the set. The final frames of the 2nd game, the Vengeance was just simply starting to turn over just a bit too soon and the slightest move right (remember... Lefty here!), the ball just would not face up the way I felt comfortable to maximize my score. So the 3rd game, I switch to my Paranoia. Now, my Paranoia has the same drilling as my Vengeance with the Pin squarely below my bridge and the CG slightly kicked out to the left. I then moved everything just 1 board to the left (Feet at 19 ½ Lay down at 10 and break-point at 7). Front 10 and a ringing 7 pin later and I finish with a 289. The Paranoia was able to clear the front part of the lane with little effort and with most of its energy being retained, the ball read the friction down lane and drove them the pins like a bulldozer. The Paranoia is Motiv's newest release and I am very excited about the down lane motion this ball provides. Featuring a brand new core and cover system this is the next step in MOTIV's evolution. The Paranoia provides a strong and consistent motion down lane with plenty of angle and unbelievable continuation. While many angular pearl bowling balls jump hard when hitting the friction, the Paranoia Agitator reactive cover stock blends this reaction helping me to be much more confident in its total reaction. This ball is a must to help you take full advantage when the lanes give you friction!!! Steve Haas Motiv Regional Staff http://youtu.be/pGrT3FcbVeM

Review: The Paranoia is the latest release from Motiv Bowling. The Paranoia brings together brand new core and cover stock combination that is going to make Motiv fans freak out when they throw this wonderful piece. The new dual density Oblivion core and new Agitator Pearl Reactive cover stock gives the Paranoia strong and consistent down lane motion and has the best continuation through the pins you will see in a Motiv bowling ball. If your looking for your next bowling ball you won’t be disappointed with the performance of the Paranoia. INNER CORE Oblivion COVERSTOCK Agitator Pearl Reactive FINISH 5500 Grit LSP Comments: When I first threw the Paranoia, I was blown away with the performance. This product has everything I wanted in a bowling ball and then some. For my game, the Paranoia fits perfectly with what I want to do on the lanes. I need something that has length but still give me that continuation through the pins so I can strike consistently and the Paranoia delivers. What can I say this is the first ball out of my bag every night in league and it usually is the only ball I will stay with all three games. I love how I can start more right than usual and then migrate left and the Paranoia just keeps on coming back and hit the pocket with authority. High rev players will absolutely love the Paranoia because it will give you the length you need without sacrificing hook and continuation through the pins. Lower rev players will love the Paranoia because the length it provides with help stay longer in their comfort zone without switching bowling balls. I recommend the Paranoia to types of bowlers. The only dual density core in the MOTIV product line currently is the Impulse V2 core that is in the Primal Rage and the Primal Rage Remix. The Paranoia features the NEW dual density Oblivion core (RG 2.53, Diff 0.047 at 15 pounds). Wrapped around the Oblivion core is the Agitator Pearl cover. This coverstock is totally new and should allow the Paranoia to fit right where it’s supposed to, in the Angular/Medium Oil spot on the chart. While not as angular as the Octane, the Paranoia provides as much hook and more continuation. The shape down lane is not as sensitive to wet/dry, which was the most common complaint about the original Octane. Due to the unique combination of control and aggression down lane, this ball should be something special! Definitely more angular than the Primal Rage Remix. The Octane Burn is also less angular and about 4 boards with the feet and two boards with the target at arrows right of the Paranoia. Check out the video link. The Paranoia corners well even for low rev, speed dominate bowlers like myself. ROK (Real Old Kegler) Motiv Staff Motiv Paranoia VIDEO https://youtu.be/RT-aexVeu1E

This ball is the newest introduction into the MOTIV line of bowling balls. The MOTIV Paranoia features the Agitator Pearl Reactive coverstock combined with the Oblivion core. It's very clean through the front of the lane, It reads the med lane for change of direction and makes a fierce move on the backend. Most importantly, it features the continuation that MOTIV balls are becoming known for.. It will be a great fit in your bag on medium to light oil. The Paranoia will become that ball you can count on when you need to go away from the pocket and have no fear that it will recovery giving you the angularity and continuation you need to go through the pins. My Paranoia is laid out is pin up (above the bridge), the cg shifted right and has an extra hole in my axis. This ball has already found a place in my bag and drives through the pins with easy from an insane angle. If you are looking for a ball with crazy backend reaction, continuation and awesome hitting power. Look no further, you've found it. Craig Auerbach MOTIV Staff Member Florida

Speed off hand 18 Review: The New Motiv Paranoia is one of those “something special” balls. It may be the new Agitator cover or the new Dual Density Oblivion core, but this ball rolls great, and sends pins flying with a motion we have not had before. The Paranoia to me is like a stronger and more angular “Venom Line” ball. I have used this ball on wet and dry conditions and various lines. The Paranoia always has great backend and flip. I am not even shy about using it in oil because when it finds a breakpoint it will come back. We did the video on a beat up pattern and the ball rolled a little sooner than on a typical house shot but still rolled and carried extremely well. The Paranoia fits nicely between the Panic and Vengeance for me. We have blown through our preorders at the shop and everyone is extremely happy with this ball! The ball has great shelf appeal and the blend of purple and green just looks great. The Paranoia revs up nicely in the mid lane and won’t skid too far, and when it starts to corner it seems to go into another gear through the pins. I have to say it is one of the hardest hitting balls I have. The combination of core and cover do not seem to have any over/under problems. We have used Pin up and pin down drillings all with success. This ball seems to fit all styles of bowler. I have been so happy and proud of Motiv with the success on T.V. and with the way the new equipment preforms. I have been to a lot of tournaments lately and I see more and more Motiv everywhere. The results are speaking for themselves with this fast growing company. Grab a new Motiv and be part of the revolution! Summary: The Paranoia reads the mid lane then explodes with a strong backend. This is beautiful ball and some say purple balls hit harder. The high entry angle creates a high carry percent and messengers. If you want angular ball that plays many patterns the Paranoia is it. DESCRIPTION INNER CORE - Oblivion™ Dual Density Weight Block COVERSTOCK - Agitator™ Pearl Reactive Cover Stock FINISH - 5500 Grit Laser Scan Polished RG RATING - 2.53 (15 lbs) RG DIFFERENTIAL - 0.47 (15 lbs) FLARE POTENTIAL - 5"+ REACTION The Paranoia filled a much needed gap in the current Motiv line once the original Octane was retired. This ball is best suited for medium oil. It is clean through the heads with strong down lane motion. The Paranoia responds quickly to friction without expending all of it's energy which allows it to be explosive when going through the pins. VIDEO You can watch my ball motion video at: https://youtu.be/W-iQqV7pC6A COMPARISONS The Paranoia, as with all equipment in the Motiv line, was designed to fit in between existing pieces. Compared to the Primal Rage, the Paranoia is about 3 boards weaker in overall hook potential. When the pattern starts to break down and my Primal Rage is burning up, I have been able to pull out my Paranoia and continue striking while retaining relatively the same shape. When the pattern starts to go away from the Paranoia, I can pull out the Octane Burn, rinse and repeat. The Paranoia isn't nearly as temperamental as the original Octane. While I loved my original Octane, I found it to be a bit too clean. The Paranoia remedies all of that by being able to blend out the pattern. I haven't noticed much over/under with the Paranoia. SUMMARY I decided to get two Paranoia's with my initial order. I drilled one pin down (75°x 4.5" x75°) and the other pin up(65°x 4.125" x50°). I bowl in three different houses with three very different surfaces. They consist of synthetic lanes, old beat up wood lanes, and newer well maintained wood lanes. The house shots vary in length and volume from center to center. I have been able to start with my pin down Paranoia in all three houses playing up the track area. As the pattern starts to migrate forcing me inside, going to my pin up Paranoia has kept the strikes coming. They are a nice one two punch for getting down the lane and being able to open the lane up. One thing I did notice with my pin up Paranoia was that it was a bit TOO fast with box finish. I took it down to 2000 then polished it. That small change was all I needed to get it to go through the pins the way I prefer. The Paranoia took everything that was great about the original Octane and improved on it. It's definitely worthy of sitting on medium oil angular throne on the ball chart. I see the Paranoia being around for years to come. MOTIV Staff Member Doug Anderson

I have drilled my Paranoia 50 X 4.5 X 70. This puts the pin just below the bridge and at the center of my grip line. I drilled this ball with the hopes of being able to use this as something for multiple lines and lane play. The Paranoia is a shape and over all motion I have not seen out of a Motiv ball. With the dual density core the ball clears the front part of the lane with ease and then revs off the spot better for me than any of the other releases. This core cover combination is a total hit for me. Where the Original Octane was a bit sensitive to the dry the Paranoia blends the over under out. This to me is a home run... We have a ball that allows me to step inside the oil line and throw it to the dry with out fear of over reaction. Where I see this ball fitting best for me when the Burn isn't enough, the Redline is to smooth and the Shock is reading to early. The Paranoia is the perfect ball to fit in the middle of all of these. Since drilling this ball I have thrown it just about anywhere on the lane. When I need to chase the pattern in and go around the lane this ball maintains the hitting power and shape with out sacrificing control. I believe this ball is a must if you are looking for a tournament ball that will allow you to throw it at the friction with out the over reaction... #Freakout #MOTIVated Clayton Mohr Motiv Staff

Description: The Paranoia consists of an all core and cover combination. The NEW Dual Density Oblivion Core is matched up the NEW Agitator Pearl Reactive Coverstock. The Paranoia will be found in the Medium Oil/Angular category of MOTIV’s Ball Guide: ( http://www.motivbowling.com/resources/ball-guide.html). Please use this guide to help determine what ball will best suit you or to compare your current MOTIV balls, it is VERY reliable! Reaction: MOTIV is marketing the ball as controlled angularity…as you’ll see from the video it’s possible. Think of a ball that is still very clean in terms of length, but instead of it happening all at once it’s a just a little more gradual. I have used the Forza Redline as my benchmark ball since it has been released and it’s my go to ball on house patterns. The Paranoia has now taken some of that time away, as it allows me to play in similar spots with my feet, but really opens the lane up left to right. The key is that the Paranoia doesn’t bounce too hard off of the friction either, resulting in great carry. I also like it in terms of hook potential as well. It doesn’t force me too far left on the fresh causing me to see the wet/dry that you often see on house patterns. So far on tougher patterns if you are looking for something that will really create some shape down lane, yet give you some control, this is going to be that piece. Especially, if you aren’t looking for something that is overly strong or overly week. Comparisons: I will be comparing the Paranoia to 3 balls in MOTIV’s current line. First, I find the Octane Burn to be actually a little earlier, close in response to friction but I would have to give the edge to the Paranoia, and the Octane Burn is a few boards less overall in terms of hook potential. Next, the Primal Rage is close in terms of length, responds a little faster to friction, but the Paranoia is a little more continuous and the Primal Rage also hook a few more boards overall. Finally, the Forza Redline is earlier, smoother and once again provides more overall hook potential. I think the Paranoia has become a key ball for MOTIV as it provides a lot of shape down lane but isn’t too strong or too weak. Summary: Well, this ball really gets down the lane and really allows me to cover some boards without sacrificing carry. It has become a benchmark ball for when I need some steeper angles. Once again this release provides great continuation, which honestly seems to be the case with every MOTIV release. Layout: 45 x 5 ¼ x 25 Be prepared to #FreakOut with the Motiv Paranoia. This brightly marked ball looks good on the lanes both reaction wise and color wise; it really pops on the lane. This ball combines two brand new technologies in the Agitator Pearl Reactive coverstock (finished at 5500 Grit LSP) wrapping around the Oblivion core (2.53RG, .047Diff). Built as a controllable upgrade from the original Octane, this ball fits very nicely into the Medium Oil-Angular motion chart slot. On the fresh this ball is super clean, saving its energy for a very strong, yet predictable, backend motion. I do have to be square and go up the lane with it as friction is its friend, but the read this ball gives and the continuation through the pin deck is superb on this sort of line. As the lanes burned up I am able to jump left…and left…and left with this ball showing no quite. The glide through the heads stores up enough energy for a quick transition at the breakpoint allowing the Paranoia to be used with larger angles later in the day. My second game out of the box with this ball was 290. I have also sanded this down to 2000 grit so that I could be more aggressive earlier and I have not found disappointment. This added texture allows the ball to hook a couple of feet sooner but not so much so as to burn up any breakpoint energy. I get a better midlane read without sacrificing a quicker transition or driving power. A sanded Paranoia and an out of box one can be a dangerous one-two punch in medium conditions that easily burn. Over all if you need a medium oil, quick responding ball that gives you control and power through the pins, look now further than the Paranoia! Layout used for this review is 42 x 4 3/8 x 70. This is the second ball in Motiv's line with a dual density core. (Primal Rage is other ball). This has a completely new cover and core for Motiv. The Oblivion core is symmetric and has 2.53 RG .047 Diff. The cover is called Agitator Pearl with a 5500 Laser scan polish surface. This falls in medium oil angular part of Motiv's ball chart and fits nicely between the primal rage and Octane Burn is total hook. The hitting power of this ball is the first thing that you will notice. It seems to throw pins around and have a second gear when it turns toward the pocket. If you have not tried Motiv before this will be the one that you need to try first. If you are a Motiv enthusiast you will want more than one. It IS that good!

This ball just flat out hooks on the backend. It is so clean through the front part of the lane and saves so much energy for the back. At the OOB surface, the Paranoia was too clean for me. I used a 2000 abralon pad lightly over the surface and the ball came alive. It is certainly one of my most hooking balls in my bag. This ball will be fantastic for any arsenal especially if you liked the primal rage. It fits perfectly in between the primal rage and the octane burn in terms of total hook potential. This may be the easiest review I have done. I compared the Paranoia to my Primal Rage. A lot of bowlers are familiar with my love for the Primal Rage. MOTIV has created the love-child for it. The Paranoia is clean through the front part of the lanes with a controllable, predictable, continuing motion downlane. After a couple small surface changes by hand, the motion is identical on the backend and does not sacrifice hitting power. The Paranoia will turn heads easily. This is more than a home run for MOTIV, it’s a series sweep and shutout each game. Create more Paranoia by drilling more than one. This ball will not disappoint.

MOTIV has been on the cutting edge of technology for the past few years, and the new cover and core featured in the Paranoia is evidence of just that. The Paranoia is an angular pearl ball that’s easy to control. The secret, (as it seems to me – I’m not a scientist ? ) is the revolutionary dual density core. The Paranoia really features a unique shape that I don’t think I’ve seen before. When the Paranoia sees friction downlane it makes an assertive move towards the pocket… but unlike most balls designed for skid flip performance, this ball seems to take a more diagonal path through the pins. I feel like I leave fewer 4 / 9 pin combinations because of it. (I’m right handed). In my ball reaction video below I compare the Paranoia to MOTIV’s Jackal Carnage, Revolt Havoc, Octane Burn, Graffiti Tag & Ascent on Kegel’s Bourbon Street pattern. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OntBmoPC32M I really believe that the Paranoia is the type of ball that can give me a distinct advantage over my opponents when a “clean through the front, aggressive on the back end” kinda look is needed. This is due to the Paranoia’s knack for blending out the wet/dry back ends just enough to give me more miss room, along with widening the effective pocket due to it’s strong continuation. I don’t think the Paranoia will be my “secret weapon” for very long. --Kevin Gallagher— PBA Member Motiv Staff
