Ascent Red/Blue Solid

When we asked pro shops if we had gaps in our product line, the most common response was that we needed to offer a very affordable performance option for entry level bowlers. Therefore, we are excited to introduce the Ascent™ line from MOTIV™. Available in both a solid and pearl option, the Ascent™ line offers two different ball motions for Light Oil. The gorgeous Pink/Purple Pearl edition is much longer with a more angular backend. The Red/Blue Solid Ascent reads earlier and produces a smooth strong arc to the pocket. Both Ascent™ balls combine the MOTIVator-Z™ cover from the QZ2 Backdraft with the proven Recon™ core . The resulting RG is 2.59 with a .025 differential on the 15# model. Invite your entry level bowlers to elevate their game with the new Ascent™. Make their first ball purchase a top quality piece of equipment from MOTIV™

**Ascent Solid** INNER CORE: Recon™ COVERSTOCK: MOTIVator-Z™ Solid Reactive FINISH: 1000 Wet Sand 15# SPECS: RG: 2.59, DIFF: .025 It is hard to believe that a ball with an entry-level price point can perform like the Ascent Solid. This unique ball is very patient through the heads allowing you to get to the breakpoint with the amount of energy to make you say "WOW!!!!" as it goes through the pins. It is very smooth and controllable once it reads the friction. Being the Ascent Solid has a more aggressive cover stock than the Ascent Pearl, this ball is not afraid to get wet. I can start with this ball on a fresh oil pattern because of its ability to preform in oil and its versatility allows me to move left and finish the night with it as well. I have never thrown a ball at this price point that does what this ball CAN and WILL do for you. This ball is very versatile and whether you are a beginner, average or above average player, this ball will fit nicely into your arsenal. At the price you can get one for, you should get 3. :) Now is the time, start your climb to the top with the Ascent Solid and get MOTIVated! Ascent Solid--- INNER CORE: Recon™ COVERSTOCK: MOTIVator-Z™ Solid Reactive FINISH: 1000 Wet Sand 15# SPECS: RG: 2.59, DIFF: .025 What a great addition at a great price point. I understand it’s difficult to always go out and buy a new ball at $200+ every time something new comes out. If you’re a beginner or mid level player you don’t always need or sometimes can’t even handle the high end premium pieces. That’s what so nice about the Ascent line of equipment by Motiv. This ball like its pearl counterpart is far from what you would expect from an entry level ball for the price of an entry level product. The Ascent solid brings decent length with the smooth transition and reaction off the back of the pattern. It’s not jerky nor over reactive but provides a smooth curved arc to the pocket. To me this piece is very controllable and predictable. Its strong in the oil yet not overly flippy which gives the mid range player as well as beginner the control they need while providing the hitting power seen in some upper end releases. Its controllability is also enticing to the higher average and higher rev players as it provide a predictable roll and arc to the pocket. This ball is by no means your low end entry level ball. For the money it something you may want to add to your collection. For me the pearl fits my needs for dryer conditions or shorter oil patterns but when there is carry down you still need something that’s not going to give you too much over under..This is your piece… Rick Zakrajsek Motiv Staff Ohio WWW.MOTIVBOWLING.COM

Elevate your game with the new Ascent line! The Red / Blue Solid Ascent features the MOTIVator-Z cover from the QZ2 and the proven Recon core. The solid cover and dull finish reads earlier on the lane and produces a strong, smooth arc toward the pocket. INNER CORE: Recon™ COVERSTOCK: MOTIVator-Z™ Solid Reactive FINISH: 1000 Wet Sand 15# SPECS: RG: 2.59, DIFF: .025 The first ever entry level bowling ball from Motiv Bowling and boy is it a success! featuring the MOTIVator-Z Solid reactive cover with the proven core of the Recon RX-1 this ball is a HIT and truly does ascend to new heights in terms of low end products on the market today! For me this ball is a TERRIFIC option on shorter patterns, It's stronger cover(using added surface) gets the ball into a roll very early and really blends the pattern well preventing the over/under. Using less surface I can use this ball later in blocks off balling down from the thrash but staying in that same zone and it really does get the corners out for being such a low end ball. On the THS this ball will allow you to stay on top of it longer and not force you left and give away your carry by creating to sharp of angles. I really can use this ball in a number of different scenarios and for a low end ball that is very unique! This is one of the main reasons I do highly recommend it to any and all bowlers! Bowler Stats-Ball Speed 15.5 MPH Rev Rate-App 280 Axis of Rotation-30 to 60 degrees Axis Tilt 9 degrees Right Handed PAP-5 over, 1/4" up The Motiv Ascent Solid is designed for light oil patterns. The ball is in fact a little bit stronger then a light oil ball for me. It pushes through the heads with ease unless all the oil is gone but picks up a very early but smooth roll. When the ball finds friction it makes a continuous move to the pocket. For me it has an early roll like the Raptor but a move to the pocket that is much less angular. It does not cover as many boards as the higher end balls in the Motiv line, but the move is strong enough to produce the needed angle to the pocket to strike. I am able up the boards, swing it out to the dry or play an tight inside shot. This ball is very versatile for me. The ball creates a lot of room on broken down house shots for me and I am excited to see how it will play on shorter sport patterns. I think it will be a great match up for me. I used the ball on the broken down BTM pattern this year and found I had a great look using the fallback shot, which is playing it off the left corner and rolling it at the 3 pin. The ball carried surprisingly well from that deep and I actually had area the others I was bowling with did not have. If you use this ball as designed, that is on patterns that have light oil in the heads for higher speed players and medium oil in the heads for the rest of us, or broken down by league or tournament play, it will be a very effective ball. To throw it on a fresh THS will require throwing out it to the dry, which many bowlers are very comfortable with. The Ascent Solid gives Motiv a piece of equipment for Motiv believers as a step between the Sigma Hybrid and the Backdraft, when it is too much and the Hybrid, for when it is too little for the backdraft. For me it is a stronger ball then the QZ1/QZ2 Series. I'm very colorblind but the Neomark Graphic makes the ball very pleasing to the eye and give it good shelf appeal. This ball is extremley usable for the price. I have put stroner layouts to get it to read the mids earlier and have been able to drill them weaker to get more shape down the lane. This ball is usable from the beginner bowler as a benchmark ball all the way to the professional bowler as a utility ball. If this ball is in your bag it will get alot of play. Like most all of Motiv's balls this responds great to surface either way you would like it to fit any hole in your aresenal, and if this ball is not enough down lane you can also get the ascent perarl and it offers a greast 1 2 punch for great ball reaction. For the price this is the most versitile ball on the market!!!

The Bowler: Ball speed = 17 Rev Rate = 400 PAP = 5 ¾, 3/8 up The Ball: Motiv Ascent Solid Surface = 2000 grit The Ascent solid is a strong and smooth entry level bowling ball. If you’re looking for a cost effective solid bowling ball with the peace of mind that you’ll have a controlled reaction on tougher patterns consider the Ascent solid. This ball is also affective in the hands of strokers looking to take control on medium light oil. I love the solid on short and medium sport patterns playing up the outside without giving up backend angle and carry. On house shots I usually play the Ascent solid inside the oil line blending out the wet dry without over reacting. I was able to move in deep with the solid but when I got in to far I hit its limit and started leaving corner pins and washouts. In closing: I give it two thumbs up for someone dabbling in sport patters or blending out wet dry house shots. Michael Mambourg Motiv Staff www.Motivbowling.com

This ball is a great addition to any bowler's tournament or league arsenal when you're looking to grind out on fresher conditions, or just want more control overall. Being a tweener, I've always struggled with over/under on certain patterns. This ball allows you to get straighter with a predictable move off the breakpoint. An excellent "control" and grindout ball, whether you're a high rev player or a tweener like myself. Versatile on anything from the typical house shot to a sport/PBA pattern, and for use from a wide variety of angles, it's a great entry-level addition to the MOTIV line!!!

Ascent Solid Review Ascent Solid INNER CORE: Recon™ COVERSTOCK: MOTIVator-Z™ Solid Reactive FINISH: 1000 Wet Sand 15# SPECS: RG: 2.59, DIFF: .025 CONDITION: LIGHT OIL Review: Elevate your game with the new Ascent line! The Red/Blue Solid Ascent features the MOTIVator-Z cover from the QZ2 and the proven Recon core. The Ascent solid cover and dull finish reads earlier on the lane and produces a strong, smooth arc toward the pocket. Finally, MOTIV is introducing our first ever product at the entry level price point. The new Ascent Pearl and Solid are simply amazing. Do not let the term "entry level" fool you, as that is simply referring to the cheaper price point. The All NEW Ascent Line gives you alot of "bang for your buck". I recently drilled both my Ascent Pearl and Ascent Solid. The Ascent Solid is a ball I am really starting to like more and more. The solid provides a much earlier read than the pearl courtesy of the solid cover and stronger box cover. However, even though the solid reads the lane earlier it still gets the heads fairly clean and allows you to control the midlane with a smooth continuous backend reaction. I love how versatile the solid is versus the pearl. I can play multiple angles on fresh because of the stronger cover and surface on the solid can handle a higher volume of oil compared than the pearl. I personally like to start with the solid and as the break down forces me left and I then like to open the lane up with the pearl. As most MOTIV releases, these balls hit very hard and keep the very low. At this price point, you can NOT find a better product. Bowlers of all levels with be completely satisfied and ready to become MOTIVated after throwing the ALL NEW Ascents. Get MOTIVated!!!! Bobby Middleton Jr MOTIV Staff Member www.motivbowling.com

Your climb to the top starts here! The Ascent Solid features a solid formulation of the Motivator-Z coverstock (featured in the QZ series) and the proven Recon core. The Ascent solid comes out of the box at 1000 wet sand and is ideal for the bowler upgrading from entry-level plastic balls, or the avid bowling looking for an ultra-smooth ball reaction on medium to dry lanes. I have drilled one Ascent solid (50 x 4.75 x 70) putting the pin below my bridge, the cg is shifted to the right, and I have a small weight hole placed 2” below my PAP on the VAL. This ball for me out of the box is great on a fresh house shot, as well as shorter oil tournament patterns (cheetah, viper) when I need to project my ball on a straighter line. With polish, this ball is even greater on the shorter tournament patterns, and is awesome when the lanes begin to hook during league. I like to refer to the Ascent solid as the “baby Thrash” With the previous statement above, the ball motion of the Ascent solid is similar to the Thrash, just a zone weaker. In comparison to the Recon RX-1/QZ2 Blue/Black, the Ascent solid will be more of an arc reaction, hooking earlier and less down lane than the Recon. The Ascent solid is a wonderful addition to the MOTIV line, providing the bowler with a very smooth reaction for shorter oil tournament patterns, or tougher patterns when bowlers experience over/under or wet/dry conditions. Specs PAP: 5 1/4 across Core - Recon Cover - Motivator-Z Reactive OOB Surface - 1000 Rg- 2.59 Diff - .25 I drilled my Ascent at 45 x 5 x 60 which puts the pin slightly left and under my ring finger and let me tell you what this ball hits hundreds of dollars more expensive than it is. I have NEVER thrown let alone seen an entry level ball that rolls as predictable and powerful as the ascent solid even with this smoother controlled layout I drilled. When you buy a bowling ball you want something that's going to roll true and carry every single time (not to mention if your a superman fan you'll love the colors), this is the ball for you and your friends so head on out to your local pro shop order an Ascent and get MOTIVated! the solid is great playing straight up the boards keeping my angles closed. After the lanes go through transtition I can switch directly to the Pearl Ascent, move usually around 2 and 1 right on the approach/lane and belly the ball a bit more. The solid ascent has a solid version of the MOTIVATOR-Z coverstock, while the Ascent Pearl has the same cover as the QZ2 Black/Blue Pearl. Tne factory finish says 2000 or 1000 depending on where you look for the solid. The Ascent Pearl comes out at 2000 grit polished. My personal gut suggests 1000 grit by hand for the solid as it very closely resembles the box finish. The core utilized is the Recon core from the previous Recon RX1 Solid Orange, and Silver Pearl balls. It looks like a golf tee and is rather tall. With that being said it is going to be a high RG core without question. My solid Ascent is drilled 30 x 4 x 60 with a hole on my PAP (7/8 bit, 2.5" deep).

Forget whatever you remember from any other entry level performance solid ball you have thrown in the past because the new ascent solid is unlike any other before it! This ball is incredibly strong and versatile for an entry level ball. I love using this ball once the lanes begin to start breaking down and create shape to throw the ball into since this ball does not flare a lot or over hook down lane with the recon core. Clears the front part of the lane extremely well and is the smoothest ball I have thrown in a long time. You will not be disappointed with this entry level solid ball!

The Ascent Solid and Ascent Pearl is MOTIV’s first true entry level balls. The Ascents DO NOT hit like entry level balls! Bowlers of all levels will find it beneficial to have an Ascent in their bag. The Ascent Solid is a much earlier rolling ball when compared to the Ascent Pearl. My Ascent Solid was drilled VERY weak, 50 x 2 x 50, with a P4 weight hole. Despite how weak this ball was drilled, it reads the wet/dry very well. You can see my video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REtdRXdS22g I would recommend either Ascent to anyone who is looking to purchase a quality ball at a VERY affordable price. A bowler could do very well to have both the Ascent Solid and Ascent Pearl for use on most house conditions. It would be a GREAT 1-2 ‘punch’, using the solid on fresh conditions and the pearl later in the day. MOTIV Staff Member Alan Grobmeier

I drilled my MOTIV Ascent Solid with a smooth early rolling 20* x 5” x 70* layout with the box 1000 sanded finish to enhance the cover’s natural strengths. I recently had a practice session on the WTBA’s 34 foot “Stockholm” pattern. I really liked this ball’s smoothness and predictability on the fresh. The ball begins it’s hook before the end of the pattern, then “sets” as it reaches the pocket. When the oil carries down a bit (which is common on short oil patterns), this ball handles it very well. There are many other balls with a higher overall hook rating…but cranking it coast to coast is not always what you’re looking for. The cover and core combination allow me to play in the drier portions of the lane with a gradual, even hook. Here is a video of me rolling the Ascent Solid (and Ascent Pearl, for comparison purposes) on a low volume 40 foot house shot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKuPXy1Z0gs With it’s low price point, this ball is also a great choice for a bowler wants to step into the reactive resin world for the first time. But… the advanced bowler should find a place for this one in their arsenal as well. It doesn’t hit like a discount ball, I assure you. --Kevin Gallagher— PBA Member MOTIV Staff

Ball Specs: Motiv Ascent Solid Reactive 1000 Wet Sand Symmetrical Core Layout 80x3.25x50 No Balance Hole Bowler Specs: Right Hand. PAP 5 Over 3/4 Up Rev Rate 275. Tilt 20. Rotation 50. Speed off hand 18 Review: This is a great ball for the entry level reactive market. The Ascent performs much better than expected from this price point. The hook seems to fit between the Recon and Thrash. I tested this ball on various conditions using the box surface. The ball seems to work better on medium house patterns but I was able to play a very oily modified house shot with good carry going pretty direct without much help from the lane. (the video will show this) The Ascent had a nice backend reaction and carry on any condition I tested it on. I was very surprised on the continuation it had even on the oily pattern. The option of having a dull surface ball is very important to offer to someone who wants their first reactive to have some bite. There is also a polished version for drier shots or folks who are rev dominate or just love the cool color. Summary: A great performance value. Very good hit and carry. Two great color options as well as dull and polished. Anyone who wants a great first reactive or a fantastic value addition to their arsenal should give the Ascents a look. If you try the Ascent you will definitely look to Motiv for your high performance needs later. The Ascent Solid is one of MOTIV’s first true entry level balls, the other being the also newly released Ascent Pearl. Since I tend to be speed dominant, I am typically not one that gets a lot of use from balls designed for lighter conditions. Let me say the Ascents DO NOT hit like entry level balls. Bowlers of all levels will find it beneficial to have an Ascent in their bag. Depending on the surface and layout, bowlers might be able to use this one on anywhere from a heavier condition all the way to a lighter condition. There are not too many balls that can cover than many conditions, especially at an entry level price point. To give a comparison the Ascent Solid is cleaner through the front of the lane compared to the Thrash, but to me it had more torque when encountering friction. This release will be a nice transition when the Thrash is just too early, as the Ascent Solid will naturally be longer and stronger. You can see my video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hi3oMnPYfRs I would recommend either Ascent to anyone who is looking to purchase a quality ball at a VERY affordable price. You also have two choices, the Solid Ascent (Red/Blue) for those who could use a little help getting the ball to cover more boards and the Pearl Ascent (Pink/Purple) for those who aren’t looking for a lot of overall hook.
