I was struggling with the newer equipment and remembered and old friend. I found an undrilled 16 lb Yellow Dot on EBAY and had it drilled up. Well, I should have done it a long time ago. For those who say this ball can not compete with todays conditions, let me throw a few numbers at you. The last 4 weeks using my "OLD" new Yellow dot. 650,658,668,727. Man I wish they still made this ball. I would love to find another one as If anyone has an undrilled 15 or 16lb Yellow Dot I would love to talk.

A little history on this ball... My Dad got this ball off of a lefty in early 1980 and when I was yet in my mother’s whom he bowled his only 300 game with it. He later upgraded to another ball when the urethane’s came out... so he sold it to my grandfather... He used it for several years then quit bowing all together... Up in the attic it went... Till last year I found it with several of his old balls. He gave it to me, so I had it drilled. My pro shop guy looked at me funny when I brought it in, and said " do you really want to put $30 into this ball " but it had sentimental value so it didn't matter... I took my friends advice and bled it by placing it in the oven with a very low temp for only a few min... I resurfaced it to 1500 grit then polished it in a polisher ... It came out looking like new, and preformed like new also... I was rather impressed when I used it that night in practice and shot a 217, granted the oil was thin and had a lot of carry down... the ball still had power

This is the classic performance three-piece ball from the 1980's and it still comes in handy when the lanes are extremely dry or you need control for spares. I've used it on wooden and synthetic lanes in the last ten years with good results. However, use of inserts and thumb slug is not advised because the coverstock reacts violently with super glue causing severe cracking around the area. In fact my thumb hole is beyond repair and I'm about to donate the ball to the house rack and get a white dot. Great performing ball with one major design flaw.

Bought this 1978 (pre-Legend) bleeder new and drilled it straight up figuring I had an unique spare ball. Discovered that this old friend still could impress with a shot straight up 6 board. Had to polish it get it to ignore the midlane though. I figured that this ball would be an emergency desert lane ball but my biggest surprise is that it actually had carry, even on medium oil lanes. 100 word tap dance: "...Eighteen strikes, what do ya get? Another day older and deeper in debt. St. Pete Weber don't you take me cause I can't stop...I owe my soul to the house pro-shop." Thank you and good night.

I would call this ball old faithful. It can be used on any lane condition. It will hook on light to medium oil and on heavy oil it will be a good ball to throw directly at the pocket. I know that a lot of people dont like to play that type of shot anymore but it works great with this ball. You pull it out and people laugh but trust me, if i could get another one of these balls than i would. The exact same type. I have seen some on Ebay and they get at least five bids so a lot of people still like it i am assuming.
