This was the recommendation of my pro shop. I hadn't even heard of this ball. Subbed on a league for a guy who broke his foot. 3rd week out with the ball, I start game 1 with the first 11. My first time with the front 11, and nobody even noticed till I got the 9th one. Everybody in the house sat down to watch after I got number 10. Number 11 was a great shot, and I told myself just to get the ball out on the lane for #12. Well I got it out on the lane, but a studded snow tire wouldn't have hooked. I was so amped up, I just threw it. This truly is a great ball for the middle spot in a 3 or 4 ball arsenal.

I asked Chris at Buddies Pro Shop if the U-Turn pearl would be a similar replacement to my Ti Messenger Prl. He confirmed my thought, and punched one up for me. The ball is great. It is a little earlier than my old messenger but it is still terrific. Laid out with a 1-2" pin, 4"x4". I first used it at a NEBA stop in Mass. I used it to throw a fill ball in about the third game, and put 10 in the pit. at the end of the 4th game, my Absolute Inferno started to plaque 10 pins, so the last game I gambled and went with the U-Turn. Boy, did it come through! I shot 245 and made the cut by one stick. This ball read the lane pattern very well and i was very pleased with my purchase.

I have used this ball at three different houses and although I expected this ball to work great for me on the shorter light-med oil patterns it still seemed to grab too much in the heads and not skid down the lane as far as I was hoping. With that being said on a heavier oil pattern with nice back ends this ball was fantastic and held the line really nice and made a nice break into the pocket. The one thing I noticed is this ball can really make the pins dance as it revs up really nice and thus when it attacks the pins they tend to fly all over the place. Of course when it hits flush in the pocket its 10 in the pit. The drawback I experienced was leaving the 7-9 (lefty) a few 7 pins and solid 8 pins and some late falling taps that almost didnt go down. I havent left a 7-9 in quite a while so it was a shock to me when I saw it standing after an absolutely crushing hit in the pocket. I will reserve this ball when there is enuf oil to hold it on a steady line consistently.

This is the greatest ball for mid-light oil pattern that I had drilled before.Since I was quite satisfy with my Titan for past 6 months. Now I found a totally one-two punch ball which may instead of Titan even more with great power & wide applications. I ever think about this ball will be my favorite one since I had poor experiences on same core balls provided by Columbia before. But I realize that this core may need suitable coverstock to enhance up the performance like U-Turn.This is a great art for each bowler and you should neven miss it!! I believe I will drill another one in short, and wish you would, too.!!

I guess with todays equipment hooking more....I describe the U-Turn as hook less, hit hard. Set mine up per Columbia's recommendation of 4x4. I have been looking for a ball with length and agressive backend reaction for the past year and I would recommend this ball for just that. Lenghth and backend. If the oil is fresh, there is little doubt at the rack. Hits exceptionally hard and has moderate recovery if you miss your mark outside. Exceptionally good if you miss inside to holding the oil line. My drilling with my rev rate and speed produce a 42' breakpoint with moderate flare producing an exceptional angle of attack. Excellent value in the mid-range price category. And you could easialy alter the cover of this ball if needed.

drilled this one up 3 3/8 by 3 3/8...stacked leverage. The ball is definitely a ball that you can use when the pattern starts to fade and go away, you will still be able to stay outside the oil line or play right up it. I have used it in my home house on a fresh house pattern and on a broken down pattern and it worked very well on both, I was able to go up the pattern and stay in the dry area on the fresh and I was able to go around the pattern on the broken down pattern with great hit. The ball delivers great length and snap.
