Columbia 300 Shock Bowling Ball

(5 reviews) Write a Review

Shock was developed to handle medium to heavy oil with ease, relying on its smooth finished UFD (Ultimate Friction in Dry) coverstock. Polish this beauty up and it'll perform well when the heads break down and that heavy oil pushes down the lane.

Core Technology: Dense core body. Dense energy flip blocks.

Core Technology Benefits: Concentrates the weight near the center of the core for more roll in oil. Adds flare potential for more overall hook.

Although this ball retails for $150, my pro shop had a great deal on it for only $70 with drilling! There was no way i could refuse an offer like that. After using it for a few games, I find it to be most similar to my Track Slash. They are both smooth with a monstrous hit and have extremely good carry. But when trying them both side by side on a medium shot with above average carrydown, the Shock was the clear winner. On this pattern the Slash went down too long and did not recover. The Shock however did recover in carrydown. It went down as long as the Slash but the Shock had a more agggresive cover,UFD, which made it the better choice for carrydown. The Shock can work for lanes with an unusually large amount of carrydown but on very long heavy patterns with no backends, the Shock would be useless like most bowling balls. Overall the Shock is similar to the Slash, but carries better and can handle a bit more oil and I would strongly recommend it especially if you bought this

I have had this ball for 5 months and if I play it on the right conditions it is a good ball. I am 14 and still have a lot to learn but this ball was strangly different from game to game. On the first game it would have a nice mid lane roll and a smooth move to the pocket and in the second game it would skid out. I didn't let oil on the surface because i towled it off before every shot. It might not be the right ball for me but I can put good scores up with it. My high score with it is 277, and I only average 166.

I drilled this ball up at this weeks U.S. Open after a miserable first round..on the advice of my rep we laid this ball out with a 5 inch pin to PAP and the CG slightly kicked out. The ball worked wonderfully, it read the midlane very well and made a nice move in the back for a heavy oil ball. I was able to jump 100 spots today because of this ball and get back in the tournament. I must say, this ball does hook a lot and may not be your ideal house shot ball..however, for the price it is a must have for tournaments and sport shots. The ball hits like an absolute truck, my carry was very well today considering I was fading the 4th arrow, just a great ball. John Rubeo Jr. Columbia 300 Staff Member juniorsproshop@aol.com

Ball is drilled to go long and arc smoothly into the pocket. The pin is about 1- 1 1/2 inches under my ring finger with the CG in my palm, no weight hole needed. I bought this ball to be my control ball on league nights when my other equipment is over/under reacting. All of my other balls (Storm Triple X and Triple Extreme, Hammer Big Blue Pearl, Track Phenom Unleashed) are drilled fairly aggressive so I wanted something less aggressive, that still had great carry. This ball is exactly what I wanted. I normally play either a fairly deep inside line, out over the 3rd or 4th arrow, or I stand on the fourth dot and swing the ball out over the second arrow and watch as it crushes the rack. With this ball and drill pattern I can play straight up the right side and let the ball just arc into the pocket. Due to the coverstock this ball drives very nicely through the carrydown but the drill pattern causes the ball to transition very smoothly and not to overreact on the dry patches. All in all

I picked up this ball used from a friend of mine, only used it maybe 5 times, praticly brand new and the cool thing was we had the same span so all i had to do was get a slug that fit my thumb put in. This ball was drilled for a medium oil shot or an in side shot on heavy oil. The ball was a dream, first time thrown, Strike. The ball was amazing, like it had a lock on the pocket, Smack, crushes the pocket each time, sometimes to hard (leave the 8 or 9). The only thing i regrett was not getting one sooner. Keep it up Columbia!!!!
